Every good Star Trek series has to have a great enemy. For TOS, it was the Klingons. For TNG and Voyager, it was the Borg. For DS9, it was the Cardassians and the Dominion. For this one, it looks like the Gorn has taken the main villain prize!

Well, the Romulans were the main antagonist for Early TNG, too - and the 'bloody cardies' towards the end. The Borg were certainly there, but only in a handful - if not memorable episodes.

This is where Strange New Worlds I think stole the show with this episode. Best one so far of the whole run. Star trek meets Alien and Spock discovers his emotions running riot. I still have ep 10 to watch but this one knocked it out of the ball park. Best episode by far...the Gorn have had a makeover...no floppy lizards suits on show here!.

@@wjlaws1672 The Rev Bem was one ..something of the vampire bat about them .. They were the race that infested the Sun system ship and over ran Andromeda consuming her original crew and traumatising the original Romi Ai. One of the more imaginative bad guy races.. It also developed the idea of the rogue genetically enhanced humans..the Nietchians.

That's an unusual away team. Who's left running the Enterprise? If they lose them, they've lost the cream if the crop.

That's why in TNG it's a rule the Captain doesn't go on standard away missions. The danger of losing them.

Number One to lead. Ortegas flying the ship; the rest of the crew. The mission to get the generators was low risk mission compared to a search and rescue on a planet's surface. Communications, Engineering, Medical teams, people in command who would have command functional control for the starship itself; if there was a disaster (like so) there is a competent team to deal with the situation. Though TNG had it better with the First Officer going instead of the Captain.

Redshirts aren’t trained in proper quips and snark, which risks overloading the Bore-Quantum Load and risking Total Plasmatosis Cancellation. So they have no choice but to bring the entire bridge crew on every Away Team.

@@tombratcher6938 Class L worlds can have different kinds of atmospheres ranging from suitable for humanoid life to unsuited without additional means. The only difference between Class L and Class M is the amount of carbon dioxide. So yes there is air, just not the kind we tend to want to breathe in. But the planet has ice, which means water, and water means oxygen. So at least on surface level this planet has "air"

Shuttles look good and the scene is wonderfully done. BUT if the ship in space can't contact the shuttles how do they get the ship off the planet?

The ships name bothers me ( canon wise ) there was a uss eagle constitution class .but not peregrine. ( unless its not a constitution class 99 crew is far too low )

According to Memory Alpha "The USS Peregrine (NCC-1549) was a Sombra-class Federation starship operated by Starfleet in the 23rd century."

You know its not cold if they do not wear hats. Its a dead giveaway of most movies. Cold === hats. Unless you are from Andoria. It mus be below freezing of water as we see ice. They did manage to wear gloves. Their shoes are also way too light. Their jackets look cool but not very warm - maybe note they have like internal heating or something. I guess filmed in California - so they do not know what COLD means at all.

Internal heating is the canon answer, but you'll notice Uhura is wearing a hood while outside due to her lack of a thick head of hair (not gripping: hair's practical use is keep the head warm) but once inside she takes it off? Yeah, that wouldn't fly in real life since we see the "glass" frost up quickly when the door is open, meaning even with life support at 20%, it's still too darn cold.

@@wraeven4182 I don't know about that. This didn't have to be an advanced race, it could've been an invasive species. For instance, it could've been something the Gorn accidentally picked up and distributed.
