Honestly this is where the line should be drawn. A product should not have increased value before it is actually released. Items should release at a standard release price. Everything that is happening right now in the prismatic Evolutions set is gouging and there is no other terminology for it. Should be illegal.

If everything came out at MSRP on release you wouldn't get any because it would be a rush to get it day one and it would sell out instantly, just like what happened to the PC ETB's. There is no gouging, people want the product and there isn't enough for everyone, so the only way to fix that issue if by changing the price. Smoke and Mirrors just did a sale at MSRP and it lasted about 10 seconds because the price was near 3x lower than the market price.

Prismatic Evolutions broke the state of mind of people. I know people who don't even know what a Pokemon pre-order some. I have already had a few cancelled purchses on secondary market, but not surprised since I was in at the low 100s. All I can do is leave negative feedback now just to push back no matter what the excuse is.

Not for resale, not for box breaking on KZbin.. I'll learn as I go. I will also admit I am a part of the side that causes the higher prices by paying for them way over msrp.

I just want to collect the cards and enjoy the artwork. Having to compete with bots and scalpers is really discouraging. Especially to people like myself who are collecting for their PC and not to resell. I’m going to keep an eye out though, might take the 17th off work just to drive around and try to get lucky.

I agree. I’m just trying to collect and enjoy the cards, not necessarily invest in them. So all the bots and scalping exasperate me, too. They definitely make the hobby less fun for people

1. Collect the other sets and wait, you have 24+ months to worry about Prismatic. I'm completing Stellar Crown, Temporal and Twilight still personally. 2. Consider other languages. Chinese singles are cheap. Heck even the Japanese version of this new set most singles are cheap. You don't need to compete with scalpers, the other 98% of the hobby is pretty affordable.

Where 151 built excitement for the whole S&V era, I think Prismatic might break the will of collectors and players, making us struggle to complete collections or even get the joy of opening packs regularly.

That’s a good point. Tbh once 151 started skyrocketing in price, it made me want to collect it even less. I find it exhausting between my work and chores to constantly check for product to show up in stores, and I’m not willing to pay the inflated prices. I’m just focusing on other sets for now and hoping that the hype for PE and the other 2025 sets will allow me to find more surging sparks and Paldean fates in the wild to open and enjoy.

My LGS is fulfilling all of their $50 preorders - but I entirely understand the businesses that had to cancel. They have to pay rent and allocations are less than expected, if people are willing to buy $100+ then that’s their choice, but I’m keeping my money with my LGS for the honesty and keeping it at $50

It still leaves a sour feeling, how long have these stores existed and how many sets have they dealt with on release? Same with Costco not having a limit and seeing 151 scalpers grab whole pallets, you'd think they'd have this stuff figured out by now. 100% on the last part : Your wallet speaks loudest, and the people buying at those prices are the bigger problem.

Crown Zenith is still getting supply in the form of Sea and Sky boxes at Sams Club. It may be a headache for 2025 but we have until late 2026 to really worry. Personally I wish Pokemon would do waves and print to demand. I'm aware the logistics may be hard but it'd undercut resellers, prevent over-printing, and maximize profit for Pokemon, which sounds like a win all around to me.

Bro, the 4 count purchase for primatic pokemon center etb were only up for like an hour maybe. Then they swapped it to a 2 per person limit. It sold out before the end of my 8 hour work shift. They also started blocking ppl from shipping from multiple accounts to the same address. People were trying all kinds of tactics lol.

In my opinion, prismatic evolutions looks like a great set, but the fact that the prices are spiking so much are insane. They should just set it to normal prices on release, and people like myself who just like to try their luck with a few packs or maybe an etb can basically never get a single product with more than a few packs. I just wish the fans would calm down even just a little.

I managed to get a pre order for the binder set & ETB at my local card store since they didn’t even announce they were doing pre orders, you had to look closely for the sign up sheets. Going around on the 17th to see if I can find the sticker & poster set since I forgot to pre order those 💀 Got in to pokemon not long after the release of surging sparks, and I’m a master set collector, so it’s been rough as it is with surging sparks, but prismatic is gonna be a whole other beast

as a new collector, i'm a little anxious about whether or not I'll be able to get my hands on any prismatic evolutions this month. My unfortunate timing to enter the hobby (december, peak holidays) combined with my heavily populated location has left me with a really sad card acquisition rate right off the bat, and too late to preorder this set. Barely been able to collect any cards at all :( Really hoping I can get a single ETB at the very least. I think this set has some really gorgeous cards, especially the Jolteon ex.

I am a relatively new collector who loves to collect the beautiful artwork from Pokémon and what I hope to pull from this new set if I can even afford something are the fullart trainercards. what I absolutely hate about this set is the insane prizing before release. sadly I dont have that much money and where I live there are almost no tradeshops for Pokémon cards so thats also not an option for collecting and trading cards affordable. 😔 ps: I love your videos so much💕

I have a buddy who has been preparing for months to try and get a few Pokemon Center ETBs so it’s been… daunting to see the release. There is a very easy and simple solution to this. Remove the pre order function completely. Take it back to when people had to physically stand in a line and limit certain items to x amount per customer. Easy!
