The MSRP demanders don't want to pay MSRP. They only want to pay market or under market. Most times market is under MSRP so they are quiet. They only get loud when market is above MSRP

Laughable. 'They' are loud because theres no product to buy from stores at all. Its only from resellers for huge markups. Anyone who respects the hobby should be bitching and Hard Passing on the resellers. If it was 3 or 6 months post release - different story. Blame largely lies on those paying reseller markups and TPCi for grossly underprinting.

But Rusty is still getting product for wholesale prices, so is everyone else who are buying from wholesalers. The problem is when they sell at the “market price” which is $17 a pack.

It’s an easy case just taught in Intro to Econ. The demand is just totally out-weighing supply due to market conditions (hype, fear, FOMO, etc). I guess what slightly alters this is that it’s a specialty set and the most packs you can acquire in a product is 12 I believe compared to 36 with a booster box. And the above-average consumer couldn’t just order multiple cases of PC ETB cases due to purchase limits.

"If I sell below market price, someone will swoop in and buy it all"- this is the explanation for why extremely popular product is so expensive, and it’s NOT your fault, it’s the fault of the market. Rusty, you don’t have to feel bad about charging high prices. It sucks, but this product is just insane because of Evolving Skies. There’s nothing anyone can do about it.

I think it’s more investors and rippers shippers who are buying more than collectors cause they have those wallets to go ahead and buy it mass and buy whatever prices and then go around and sell it, but it is all speculate because we have no idea who’s buying what and how much?

Glad to see you aren't complaining about the market like so many others are. Nothing goes up forever and there will be a correction eventually. It might not happen with PE but a future set... To me this is a very exciting time and i'm really enjoying all the hype. And, even though i'd love to crack some PE i have no problem opening less packs due to the cost... For those lucky enough to hit a big card it just makes it that much more special.

I totally get what you’re saying. Market is market and there is no reason to sell less, you got bills and a family to take care of as well. I for one won’t buy at that price and that’s no hate to anybody. But definitely it will get worse, this is a great set and like you said many many many folks have joined this TCG for the investment aspect alone.

Always providing great insights, Rusty 💯! MSRP as stated is a suggested value. No one bats an eye when they are getting packs/products well below MSRP and stores are loosing money/maybe break even but mad when stores price things at MSRP or at Market value. You cannot control the market, you can only be part of it or step aside. If more people dont buy packs at these proces, the prices will come down. If not, then things will continue as they are. Never forget that it's okay to sit things out. Its all shiny cardboard at the end of the day not your rent on the line.

I just don’t know if Pokemon has the printing capacity for the consumers. They would have to completely skip reprints of a few recent sets to keep up with the demand of Surging and Prismatic.

They will likely skip the sets that they have not already bumped into reprint production and that are lower demand. If I were Pokemon, I would skip SV1, SV3, SV4, SV7. SV2 already got a small reprint, so may happen with that as well.

You will always be in competition with people who like to do other things with the same packs. Just for example with something more necessary for life - take lumber that you might want to buy for a porch or roof repair - during C-19 prices spiked because of the shortages from houses being built and import limitation. If you wanted a 2x4 - you had to compete with the big business who wanted to the same 2x4

The reality of buying through distribution is that you have to buy large amounts of every set if you want a shot getting every set. You can't miss on the payments or deadlines, so it is a lot of leverage you put up. When you hits years like 2022/2023 where boxes are dragging it is so much risk. What I and other buy is nothing compared to big box stores and the prices they get to see.

I understand most sets lgs’ don’t make much money or break even. And selling a set like this at like $7-$10 a pack would be ok, plus you make extra profit to make up for dead sets. You’d be surprised how many people get upset about the prices and don’t understand how supply and demand works lol those people wanna pay MSRP and don’t complain when they pay less, but will when it’s super hyped up and everyone wants it causing massive price increases. I read some of those comments on his last video, and they were just not considering facts or that this is a business. It evens out in the long run when people get stuck with 2, 3, 4 straight sets that can’t get MSRP at release. But many don’t understand that or wanna consider it. Crazy enough, people in Pokemon almost prefer this type of video. I have had no 10k videos in the past year other than the last two "talking" about the market. This video may also hit that number just because of the similar talk it has. You would not think people would rather hear me talk over watching high end packs get opened, but it is. I say that knowing it is what I prefer as well haha. I like to listen to people while I work.
