Excellent Podcast Bruh, IPP is an Horrendous Sentence. Thank God they have abolished it, the trouble is its not retrospective so my Guy and thousands of others are caught up in it. Can you imagine you can be re-called at anytime for anything at your PO's discretion. All the best for this Man he sounds like he has his head on straight, the trouble is the PO's are they straight? Anyway again good to see your highlighting this F##k up Sentence. RESPECT SIR.

Enjoyed that, lookin forward to p2. Managed to dodge a IPP myself back in 05 and ended up on the EPP. Was a scary time to be getting sentenced, them judges were just throwin these sentences out for a laugh without any real idea the impact it would have on the lads unfortunate enough to get one of these sentences.
@dwayneterence74562 жыл бұрын
They 100% knew the impact it would have on the mandem. Why would they care
@ED-hj3kh2 жыл бұрын
@@dwayneterence7456 For the first 18moon or so after the EPP / IPP were introduced hardly any overseeing staff (judges,screws,probation, etc) had a reasonable understanding of the complexities to either of these sentences. They were getting handed out like sweets just because they could. Judges got handed a power and with pushes from Police/CPS they used it to their advantage to take “problem offenders” off the streets. Your right tho they definitely didn’t care, but in the beginning the establishment didn’t fully understand what they were doing with these sentences.

I was in Leicester prison with some lad I knew who got an 18 month IPP for punching his friend in a club and accidentally killing him. I think he got out in 5 years, but didn't truly understand the sentence. Advice they gave IPP'd was to play up for the first couple of years and then behave yourself, so it shows that you have changed. That sentence was scary though, they called it the Frankenstein sentence because it was a monster.

IPP was bang out of order. From 2005 onwards, we saw loads of people coming into prison with small tariffs. I'm a mandatory life sentence prison with a 14year tariff, and the IPP prisoners slowed the lifers progression 10 folds. I ended doing 7 years more because of the IPP prisoners jumping into courses slowing our progression. Now, prison psychology was another thing that slows the progression of both IPP's and lifers. TC is proper hard shite. Did 2 years at Dovegate just to get my C-cat.

IPP AND DPP were originally only ever to be given to 800 people approximately. It was given to over 8000 people and children. You only needed ONE other offence, making a total to JUST TWO to qualify for an IPP or DPP. Yes I'd say it was highly misused!
