Oh, this is a blast from the past! I used to absolutely LOVE Bill's announcments. It was like a little private club were watching it in the wee small hours!

I quite agree, he was always excellent. The tradition is not quite gone though and has been taken up by some radio 4 announcers who sometimes make comments at the end of The Archers.

I used to watch Prisoner Cell Block H on Channel 5, and would always look forward to Bill's comment over the credits. Happier times!
