This amnesia storyline has really punched some life into this show. I have been so gripped by episodes 200 and 201 that I cannot remember anything that happened before that. See what I did there? ;) hehe. Val sure hit the mark bringing this bit of genius to the story table. 27th February 2023.

I just think, in my opinion, that she has simply acted her character in a non-Bea way that we're used to seeing. Normally, she acts all tough and bossy. By acting this way, she just simply isn't acting bossy. It might come across to some viewers as being an example of great acting, but in my opinion it's just an easy way to convey two different sides of a character- because it is one extreme to another. We can all do that ourselves just by living. I appreciate better acting skills by witnessing an actor conveying lots of different emotions. I just don't see that here with Bea. Again, just my opinion :) Not that it matters, but I work in theatre as a stage actress :)

He won't be happy until he has her at home all day chained to the kitchen sink with nothing else to think about but preparing meals for his precious business associates. He couldn't care a less about what Meg wants or what makes her happy, just as long as his clients are pampered like kings and queens! Jim showed in this episode how much of an ignorant swine he really is...... Dismissing Bea's amnesia as a pack of lies when he isn't qualified to judge just proves that he is no better than Vera! Terry believes she is genuine and he has based that decision on his own intuition, an example his colleagues would do well to follow suit on.

Carlene Boulden Yes, I felt that way about Meg and Paul too. I think many viewers would have liked that scenario to have unfolded. Unfortunately, George Mallaby (Paul Reid) had to depart the show rather swiftly due to ill health, otherwise the seeds were sown for that theory to have transpired. I agree Vera was worse than Jim. Jim had his moments but he mellowed from time to time, where as Vera was an obnoxious, heartless bitch through and through with the prisoners.

Val is a great actress and this Amnesia storyline really brings that out. that being said, her strangling of Margo with the flashbacks in her mind reminds us that she did in fact murder someone. like it or not, the woman she murdered even if she was having an affair with Bea's husband, did not deserve to die. since when is having an affair reason to have your life taken from you. it would be interesting to know more about that woman :did she have parents or brother or sister was she even married herself?

I have been through the entire series nearly 30 times since 1981, and this is the first time I caught the camera pulling off an extremely difficult effect. @ 31:00 Bea is with Dr. Weismann, and the cameraman performs the vertigo effect, where the camera initially sits 10 feet or more from the closest point, yet zoomed in all the way to same point (Bea Smith). As the camera is slowly pushing toward that point, the cameraman zooms out at the same speed. It stretches the space between the foreground point (Bea) and the background point (Dr. Weismann). It's a difficult effect to perform, and an awesome effect when pulled off. And the cameraman nailed it!
@pauliejay41617 жыл бұрын
Yes, I noticed that too and applauded when I saw it. It takes great skill to do that sort of thing. It's funny, but every 8 or 9 episodes or so there will be some sort of directorial flourish, then it disappears again for a while.

Back to the fictional story though, why didn't Mum tell them to look at the left side of her head which was where Mum saw Bea was injured so there must be a lump or something & WHY the HECK (believe her or not) have they not had a medical doctor see her yet? I'm just at the start at this episode so I hope they do. In reality {which I know this isn't} she could have a fracture in her head or worse internal bleeds or an embolism brewing. Whether Bea was acting or not is irrelevant. The woman was involved in an accident that killed the driver and seriously injured another person. Is it not common sense to get her to the hospital to be checked out?! I was just a baby when this was aired, so not sure what technology was available at the time, but she needs a scan at the hospital, surely. Val's acting is great, but the lack of medical attention makes this storyline somewhat unbelievable...
