Rosanne Hull browns portrayal of merle is absolutely outstanding. She completely portrays someone with special needs to perfection without making a mockery of it, she is 100 percent believable. I have never seen such an accurate and heartbreaking performance and I really hope she received the recognition and accolades that she so thoroughly deserved.

This period is one of the best in the whole series. Although not as good as it was in the early days, it still has it's better episodes. The music has changed slightly now, too. We sense a change, like something really big will happen soon which eventually does in the end. There is a lot going on during these episodes (Inside and outside the prison) to keep us interested. Great build up's - climaxes and well scripted plots. Even though it had run it's course, i understand how people did not want it to end. We are all just glad it run so long and that we can still enjoy it today :)

Ok she's not the brightest character in the show and she needs more: One 2 One Support, People to understand and she needs more help.People can be so cruel - people like spider need a slap. Merle has to be one of my favourite characters in this show. Merle should not be in Wentworth or any other prison for that matter. She shouldn't be but in a mental health hospital or a place with padded cell. Surely a place like a community home. where she still gets the right help & support, and she still gets some independence & place where she can make friends. We have them in the uk. They still get a lot of help & support, they still get to keep their independence & still make friends. But she shouldn't be in prison and she shouldn't be in a padded cell.
