Thanks whoever put this up. I wish they could have made an official video of the musical. I've always thought stage plays should be filmed whether it's for DVD, streaming or just for archival purposes. What a waste that so many performers have done their best work onstage and it was never recorded for posterity. That's madness! But thanks for posting this up it's great fun!

You're welcome. Due to copyright issues, Grundy television (who owned the rights to Prisoner) wouldn't give permission for the musical to be released on video/dvd.

I saw this both in London and Brighton, one of the best musicals I've seen :)

Saw this in London, did not realise it was so long ago now, depressing! However it was hilarious and a damn good night. Lived in london all my life, 25 minutes walk from theatre land and this is 1 of only 2 musicals I have ever been to and it was fantastic

Me too, I saw this 17 times and also Taboo the Boy George musical. Otherwise I'm not really a musical person. 😃

I used to work front of house for the original production at The Queens Theatre in the West End in 1995. This is SUCH A TREAT!!

It was an amazing show. I travelled the country following the show, ended up seeing it about 17 times in total..Edinburgh, Swansea, Liverpool, Oxford, Manchester and a couple of visits to the Queens theatre in London.

@@simey1 I did get to see it on tour after the run ended at The Queens. It was such a treat watching it every night, and each night different :D Was great working FoH in the Upper Circle seats, we would wear our character badges (I was 'The Man from the Department'), I'd be chucking my keys up and down and threatening patrons with a 'full internal' lol. We had a BLAST! The last matinee was hilarious, the number of pranks they played was incalculable, including a nake man running through the set with just balloons covering his bits. It was hillarious 🤣

Saw this on its last night in Aberdeen - fantastic show :D Lily Savage succeeded in making Maggie Kirkpatrick corpse on stage to the point where she was forced to question her legitimacy.

Were you in The Queens Theatre run?

I recorded it at the Edinburgh show. The show was intended to be filmed for a vhs release but Grundy who hold the rights to Prisoner weren't being co-operative with the legalities of releasing it for viewing. If you notice, all the character names were changed from their tv versions. Lizzie Birdsworth became Minnie Fiddlebrass, Franky Doyle became Stef, Mrs Morris became Mrs Austin etc. The only character that stayed the same was Joan Ferguson aka The Freak

I had to check that I didn’t dream this and I did actually go and see this and loved it ( the 90’s were a bit of a daze )
