We are in the salvage business and just brought one of these in with 12,225 miles on it. 44 years old and I do not have the heart to break it down. Runs like a top, it's so darn cool, I love it!. A little cleaning up and it will look as good as this one. Going to sell "as is".

Nice! Years ago, I stumbled across a "Swap Sheet" ad for a bunch of these bikes.. Honda apparently hooked up a camp [near Albany, NY] with a fleet of CB400As, so that campers could learn how to ride motorcycles.. Long story short, insurance, bs, etc. put an end to that before it even took off.. The camp disassembled the bikes, and put all their pieces and parts into storage.. Fast forward to the mid? 2000s, they finally got rid of everything.. I ended up with the majority of one of them.. A 1980 [the year I was born] CM400A, and the kicker - The Bike Had No Miles On It. I still have the motor/carbs/wiring/etc. I think I'm going to surprise my friend with it - to swap into his go-kart. :D

I absolutely love mine. When I first got it, someone had turned it into a cafe racer and didn't do a single thing right. I fixed everything and have been rocking it as the daily. The odometer doesn't work, but my trip logs show that I've put 1257 miles on it since I bought it in July 2023. Come November, I will have added a round trip from Western missouri to Eastern kentucky. Roughly another 1400.

I had two CB's , one was my first bike as well then as I grew older and taller I had a CB 125 then later I got my Dad's CB 250 and I had both until I went on my first cruise in the USNavy they sold them so I could get me a car ; a 1968 Ford Station Wagon to hall all my nick/Nack to the next military base , then I bought a 1977 Suzuki GS 550 and I went everywhere on it mainly up and down Hwy 1 in California then Hwy 5/405 and I still have it in my garage and my Harley Davidson Lowrider and I am thinking about getting a smaller bike as we all get older. Classic. Just wish my old frame could fit on one. Somewhere I saw that Hondamatic 400 with factory hard bags & chrome trim. Must have been a rarely purchased option. The young girl who owned it added a clear windshield for the cold and said she will never get rid of it. I can see Diane rolling on that 1700 Vcitory - get outta my way....

What does "too gay to figure out clutch and gears" mean? He wasn't too gay to figure out to play multiple instruments and become a musical legend.
@Mr.Robert1
@Mr.Robert1 8 ай бұрын
@@justadrien.2667 Yes I agree. That comment was wrong. l just feel if you're going to purchase a motorcycle getting one that's automatic defeats the purpose. Personally owned a Honda 400 Hawk. Manual, Honda 750 manual, Every bike I ever owned had a clutch and gears. If offered in an automatic I'm not interested. I hope that makes you feel better on my gay insult. Lastly, it takes a real man to admit publicly that they're wrong.
@justadrien.2667
@justadrien.2667 8 ай бұрын
@Mr.Robert1 maybe it defeats the purpose for you, but not for everyone. I know someone who was born with one of his arms stopping not far below the elbow. Also, some people may want to ride but live in a metro area that has street lights and stop lights at almost every block. Let's not forget the fact that mopeds are automatic and heavily used across Europe. Gears have nothing to do with everyone's desire to ride. Some people ride because it can be more fuel efficient, they enjoy the better parking opportunities, etc etc. Your reasons for riding are not everyone's reasons for riding. Sounds like your speaking from a very limited and self absorbed American standpoint.
@Mr.Robert1
@Mr.Robert1 8 ай бұрын
@@justadrien.2667 Americans normally want automatics what are you talking about? Your trying to be anti-American but you're giving exactly the opposite point of view. 90% of Americans don't know what a manual gearbox is or how to use a clutch. Dum dum.
@justadrien.2667
@justadrien.2667 8 ай бұрын
@Mr.Robert1 I'm not anti American at all; I am one. I'm just stating that you are speaking from a very American only considered perspective in your statements, not considering riders globally. And, your statement makes me feel even more reassured in my statement. At this point, it's interesting to see that you are unable to make any responses that don't involve you name calling, using slurs, or having to make up irrelevant points . Let people ride however they see fit for their own needs, desires, and comforts and just give a friendly hand wave while riding and leave it at that. All the aggressive hyper-masculine commentary isn't that necessary here. I happily wave at moped riders just the same as I would any other motorcyclist. Mopeds, electric E bikes, motorized bikes, trikes, Can Am riders, DCT riders, semi-automatic riders, Hondamatic riders, and any sort of manual clutch bike, touring, sport, baggers, so on and on and on. If they are riding and enjoying the breeze with me, I'm giving them a wave if I can. Life is much more peaceful that way, than worrying about finding negativity in what anyone is riding. I was behind a sport bike rider about a week ago who had his taillights and tag zip tied on, the bike looked like absolute trash... I still gave a wave from my 2022 Honda Trail I was on that day and concerned myself no further. Sounds like your taking the time to internalize some really weird feelings over there, and that's some pretty weird stuff. Good day to you sir.
