Yes you are write. There is 2 solution 1) we can add battery level indicator With the help of this we identify our battery is charge Or not 2) we can make battery tripper ckt. So when battery will fully charge that time automatically solar supply will cut. That's why I am add diode with the help of this when battery will fully charge that time battery start follow reverse current towards solar panel so that time diode will act as open switch.
