To the people arguing about the Uber cyclist situation. 1) Yes the Prius moves. Watch the valve cap go from 1 O'clock to almost 3 O'clock. 2) Highway code 159 - Before moving off you should - use all mirrors to check the road is clear, look round to check the blind spots The reason for this is to look out for pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. 3) Yes the cyclist rubbed his leg on the car, this is not a collision. The metal to plastic crunch (collision) is only heard as the car moves.

The Prius was actually stationary until the cyclist went to pass in front.

as a cyclist, its on the cyclist. play it back at .5x and you hear the thud happens before the wheels move. the cyclist has clipped a part of his bike, most likely the left pedal, on the prius.

You need to use your horn dude. That's what it's for. All motorcyclists need to get in to the habit of using their horn more. It's more effective than 'rev bombs' which most people don't understand.

Cyclist was a tool to squeeze through there, and he immediately turned to the left right in front of the Prius. Highway code also now says that cyclists should pass half a metre clear of cars.

No it doesn’t 😂 It advises passing PARKED cars with a 1m clearance to avoid being doored..there is no such rule for filtering. That would mean any filtering bike would need 1m either side to filter through. Like prem said the onus is on the driver to be aware whats going on around before moving his wheels even 1 inch.

Does the GoPro 11 still crash and corrupt footage all the time though? My 7 and 9 both do it so I said I'd never buy another GoPro.

I hate GoPros but I have to use them for the vid quality and the hindsight feature. My GoPro 9 would randomly turn on so when you go to use it the battery is at 0%. The 11 has been alright so far. I highly recommend running Lexar 633X SD cards. Works better than the cards GoPro themselves recommend. The SanDisk card I use to use lost lots of good footage :/

The cyclist fell on the car because he's a fkn Noddy who can't take a turn properly. His thigh clipped the headlight. It doesn't help that the Prius rolled forward ever so slightly, but I point my finger 100% at Noddy.

Well, KZbin downgraded the quality but once I upgraded it, it was crystal. You're right about the cyclist. The motorist saw him passing and went anyway. You're not allowed to do that. However, I understand how people feel about entitled London cyclists who habitually go through red lights and pedestrians. They are not allowed to do that. Doesn't mean you can run them down. More's the pity.

You Should swivel your head and check mirrors before moving off, but surely your default view when driving is looking ahead with peripheral vision alerting you if needed, the driver had his window down surely he must have been aware of the cyclist just pass him as well as in front of him at his headlamp, admittedly the cyclists sharp turn didn't help but even if he hadn't turned the car Should have still waited to give the other road user his Safe distance. A cracked bumper is easily replaced but broken bones take a lot longer and can have reoccurring complications.

The car pulling away is what caused the collision. How can I be wrong about this when highway code 159 literally says look out for cyclists passing before pulling away? Legally speaking vehicles should not move when they are in the process of being passed (so anytime something is visible in your mirror and closely approaching). You can say it was silly for the cyclist to start moving 45° after passing, but that's just an emotional argument. The rational argument that protects your no claims in a courtroom is the one I'm making here. I'm happy for Blackbelt Barrister to review this clip... he's just pretty much going to repeat what I'm saying 🤷‍♂️

Where in the highway code does it say cyclists cannot progress in stationary traffic? The only highway code I see involves road users looking out for cyclists passing when you're stationary (code 159)

He didn't damage the car. His ankle was making contact with the car initially (no damage) but the crunch sound was only heard when the car was moving
