Thanks for your videos. Helped me change my inverter and engine coolant. Like you I replaced 1.5gal in my engine coolant (took a while to drain, but wasn't too bad). My inverter coolant was around 0.5gal (or a little short). Here are the tricks that I found (no bleeder hoses needed). Just pour the coolant in, and when it is hard for it to naturally flow, just squeeze your tubes. Then when that is "full" and can't be burped, use the motor to run the fluid through the system. Whether that is the one for the engine coolant (and the relay short) or turning the inverter on by pushing the power button twice. It only take a few seconds maybe twice of doing and doesn't kill your 12v much. Then pour and burp the hose. Still make sure to open the bleeder tubes, but not like you have to drain a whole bunch. And after a day of driving, I will likely top off my inverter coolant. After doing this and taking 3 hours, I would say it could be done in an hour, and only consuming 2 gallons of the Toyota SLLC2 50/50 coolant. Hope this helps!

Another fantastic video that really helped me. Thanks for posting! This job took me about the same amount of time as engine coolant, 2 hours or 4 hours for both. Both jobs went faster than expected but I researched a lot and had all tools and supplies before starting. There were no surprises. My suggestion is to buy 3 gallons of coolant for both engine and inverter. I found best prices on Ebay. 1/4" tubing is correct for bleeding. Inverter pump does most of the work at the end. You'll know by the sound when system is full and purged of air.

Thanks a bunch! Just got around to doing this yesterday as I went over 100,000 miles. I used regular long life antifreeze (Prestone Long Life) AS IT CLEARLY STATES THAT THIS IS ACCEPTABLE FOR BOTH ENGINE AND HYBRID DRIVE SYSTEMS IN THE LITTLE MAINTENANCE MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE CAR WHEN I BOUGHT IT NEW. $10/gallon from Walmart for the concentrate so I used distilled water ($0.88) to mix to 66% coolant rather than the 50% you get in the premix, to get a little higher anti corrosion factor. Total cost for engine and inverter coolant change is $20.88 vs buying 2 gallons of premix ($58) from my local Toyota dealer and you end up with 3/4 of a gallon left over to use in another vehicle. Even if you do use Toyota coolant it is only good for 5 years vs the 10 years, 100k miles of the original coolant.

You can also turn over the aluminum washer. This will crush it down in the opposite direction so it can't leak. We did this pretty much every time with the crush-washer on VW air-cooled engines (when changing the oil).

A job meticulously done. To be fair I had major work done on a 2007 Matrix that had been seriously neglected. It had a blown head gasket and multiple other problems. I had it done at Toyota Dealer and although expensive everything was very well done. Why is there a baffle at the top of the coolant reservoir? Thank you!

Really a blown head? Well I mean they aren't made in Japan those models but that is crazy considering Toyota engines are only 2nd to Honda in reliability with Mercedes Benz and Volvo right behind them

I changed my engine coolant not long ago and it took about 2 gallons. Drained it out of the heat storage tank and two other drain bolts (radiator and engine). I refilled the radiator and overflow to max, ran the pump a few times to remove air bubbles. Went to the dealership today and was talking to a service rep who said that the inverter coolant and engine coolant are linked in my 2008 Toyota Prius. He said that since I drained the engine coolant through the heat storage tank and other bolts that I do not need to change my inverter fluid. Is this true? Any insist?

Is this something that should be done when I get the coolant control valve replaced. The guy who fixed my car had to add more coolant because some was lost during the repair . But I noticed sound that I normally don’t hear . I don’t think he bled the system . (Most likely didn’t know he was supposed to ) .
@pfoxhound7 жыл бұрын
So how much gallons did you use for engine and inverter cooling? As I understand that is same 00272-SLLC2.

I replaced the inverter coolant and bleed all the air out of the valve nipple afterward. I can hear the inverter pump making a humming noise like it's working but no movement in the reservoir. I went ahead and replace the inverter pump with a brand new one with same result. What did I do wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.
@longngo90549 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Tran did you check the movement prior you drain the reservoir? you probably dont remember , the only thing that i can figure out is , you didnt turn the pump on , or give it couple minute then it circulate , foot of the brake hit start button twince to turn it on , or turn on the engine and check for movement

If the coolant level drops a little . Can we refill that ? and what can we refill it with more coolant or distilled water?
@jmcdonne4 жыл бұрын
Always add coolant that's premixed. Never add distilled water, unless you incorrectly added concentrated coolant. And even then, you are better off just draining as much as you can and filling with premixed coolant.

hose is way to long.... correct way bleeding: (a) Loosen the bleeder plug and connect a hose. NOTICE: Insert one end of the hose into the bleeder tank. (b) Add coolant until the level of coolant in the hose attached to the bleeder tank reaches the same level as the FULL line of the reserve tank. NOTICE: Add genuine Toyota Super LLC coolant. (c) Close the bleeder plug. (d) Turn the power switch ON (IG) and run the water pump for approximately 20 seconds. (e) Turn the power switch OFF. (1*) (f) Loosen the bleeder plug and bleed the air from the transaxle. (g) Add coolant into the bleeder tank repeat.

propylene glycol breaks down overtime as any system is not 100% sealed, it oxidizes to acetic acid(vinegar). The red dye is not an indicator of cooling ability

why are you adding water not just additional coolant?
@ronshurie35239 жыл бұрын
Azn Driver One adds either premixed coolant (50% coolant/50 H2O, which is a total rip off since you pay almost as much for the water as you do for 100% coolant - just for the convenience of not mixing it yourself) or coolant and water together (in the same same proportion as the premix) as the FREEZING point of the mix is lower than either the coolant or water by itself.
@longngo90549 жыл бұрын

if you use coolant for to long it becomes acidic and will corrode parts and hoses. You can never tell by just color...
@drgeeforce11295 жыл бұрын
In a gallon of 50/50 premix, adding 1-2 oz of distilled water is negligible. Water is the coolant, propylene glycol raises the boiling point.
