As a small business user these types of videos and product support are invaluable to me. It's much appreciated and validates the choice I made buying Synology Nas's.

Hello there, than you for the enriching video. I tried to install Synology Drive client on a Mac running Sonoma 14.6 it refuses to install. Any known fix ? Thank you.

Very interesting but I would be very interested in a TCO case study : Private Cloud vs Public Cloud for several companies : 5, 10, 50, 100 users...

As a photographer, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to use this to store all of my photos on my NAS to allow for remote quick connect drive access in lightroom classic… does not look like this is the purpose of this cloud setup…

@@FoodTechLife Thanks man, that actually worked really easily. I'd been trying to figure out a way to do that for years.

I created a bunch of team folders. However, most of the files in my NAS are only to my own use and not to be shared. I can’t understand how to move those team folders into My Drive section, instead of just blocking all sharing features for each one. Thanks for the help.

I'm in the same boat as you. Synology Drive was way over the top and far too structured to just share files between my own computers. I just setup Syncthing on my NAS, desktop, and laptop. You can set it for whatever folders that you want. If you do go that route, be sure to setup Ignore filters so you don't sync snapshots and other folders than don't need to be shared. Create a couple of test folders to get the hang of how it works.

The whole point of having a synology nas is to control your own data on your own machines. File locking for CAD is super important but not at the expense of putting data into another cloud. Please enable the hybridshare setup to use one of our local server nas devices as the central for file locking. You are missing your target audience with that product.

I don't quite understand what are the main differences between Filestation and Drive Client? both have the files and folders and have sharing options. The UI is different but why should I use Drive instead of Filestation? my main usecases are as following: 1. I have the NAS on my office and I need to access my files from my home office. 2. I need to create client folders to share documents (photos, videos and other files) to my clients. I've been using Dropbox for years but I think my NAS can do basically the same things. Please advice and explain, thanks.

No expert here, but, fileStation is basically a web interface to simple shared folders, no version control or client sync with control , you work it as you would any shared folder on any desktop shared locally, only there is also a web interface. If you want to edit the file, you have to download a copy and reupload once you're done. Synology drive on the other hand does alot more than that and its more like Google Drive and Onedrive. So you get a client for your pc and phone, can edit documents directly online, share and colaborate. Here you dont need to download a copy of the file to edit it.

@@RodrigoLozada81 thanks. I actually figured this out recently. One thing that still bugs me is that which one to use for sharing files (photos and documents) to my clients? Any suggestion for that? I think I need to create user accounts for them too.

@@albezargo for the Drive app. easier to setup sharing permissions on the go. you can create public links, that is, links with users you have setup on your synology or anyone else for that matter, you can setup password, expiration dates and acccess limitations. There is one thing i found recently that is worth noting if you need to get files from your clients. The file Station app has one option to request files from your client, and it creates a link with a portal where the clients can upload their files to.complete with password protection and expiration.

@@albezar I missed your reply notification but here it goes. You dont need to create accounts for clients, just create shared public links to a client folder you have on your nas via Synology Drive and give it a password and/or expiration date as you see fit. if you need to request files from your clients, I have recently found that file Station allows you to create a request for a file/folder and set it up with password and expiration date as well. It gives you a link to share with your client, and they can send you files that way. Neat function.
