Thank you for the video, I found out that investing is not for everybody, you just need a strong stomach too see your portfolio go down. It might be wiser for a novice to start with copy trading investing, but it is not easy. To invest in growth stocks it is another level, definitely you need to know what are you doing.

From my own point of view, you need to invest smartly if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $255k in raw profits from just 6 months into the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy, mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.

She is a popular broker you might have heard of. I can correctly say she's worth her salt as a financial advisor as her diversification skills are top notch, because i see that in her results as my portfolio grows by averages of 10 to 15% on a monthly basis, unlike i can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along, my portfolio just mirrors what she trades and not just on some particular industries of my choosing.

The stories of firms like Sears & Toys R US being gutted by big private equity funds who paid themselves up front, divested their assets, treated them as cash cows, then BK’d out of the debt really did happen - legally and ruthlessly. However, Private Equity is a large and diverse space and that behavior does not reflect the majority of the firms operating there. Good interview.
@stevee8318 Жыл бұрын
Good comment. I am still surprised that Eddie Lampert and co. got away with so obviously looting Sears and its shareholders. On the other hand there are lots of PE firms that operate entirely equitably and provide a benefit to society.

Having worked in partnership with a company that was bought and sold by private equity, my experience overall was very positive. They bought the company (medium sized about 150 mil), invested in improvements, let time go by to allow the investments to have effect, and then sold the company to another private equity. I went through this 3 times over about 20 years. It helped my partner company grow and stay profitable and helped me grow as well.

A very interesting discussion, and I'm always interested in hearing alternate investment opportunities. So I appreciate these kinds of videos. That said, if I followed the discussion correctly, sounds like he said you have to have a net worth of at least $1 million to invest in his fund? That may be a lower barrier to entry than it used to be for private equity, but it's still beyond me, and I imagine, a lot of other viewers. Honestly, my living expenses are very low, so whenever I hit $1 million, I'll just put the money in something ultra-safe that pays 5% interest/dividends and live off the payments. (Unless inflation has made $1 million worthless by then, which it might, lol.)

If public markets are dangerous, private equity is more dangerous. There are are few big wins out there, but you have to get lucky or know something everyone else doesn't know. My thinking, stick to stuff you can buy and trade from a brokerage account, or property that's registered with the county with your own name on the deed.

Is private equity unregulated? One of the reason big banks are not competitive in technology with them FANGS is regulatory. Public banks are weighed down by regulatory compliance. Big tech mostly can avoid that. Probably crypto assumed they could be like the FANGS ie unregulated. But SEC disagrees

Agree to a certain point. When private equity and LBOs create value, they can reap it but should cash out and not hold the concentration of productive wealth. Productive risk-taking is good, but the concentration of returns is not. Public equity spreads the risks and returns of capitalism and thus reinforces democracy. PE tends to concentrate risk and returns. And when lenders funding PE get bailed out, that's a violation of market justice.
@lngtimesurfer Жыл бұрын
PE may offer some benefits, but there's too many examples of PE costing the country or greater economy: 1. VC: many put all their money into SVB and were bailed out by FDIC in excess of the 250k limits (who is now indicating they may be cash sensitive as a result) 2. LBO: notorious for over leveraging companies they purchase to then use the loan to pay themselves bonuses ultimately bankrupting the company ( *cough cough* Bain Capital *cough*) 3. Many of these PE bros go into politics (Buttigiege) and push pension plans or legislation/regulation towards benefiting PE investments often at significant losses. CA universities just bailed out Black Rock's REI with their employees pension plan while they were denying withdrawals because of the losses they've been taking with a cooling housing market Liquidity in the markets is important, but as a society we should be looking at how our investments benefit our society and the individuals within that society as a whole rather than what returns the highest profit in the shortest amount of time. PE spends a lot of time and money lobbying to prevent any regulation that may alter the status quo.
