Private Jamie Clark Memorial Solomon Islands

Soldiers of 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) (Old Faithful), deployed to the Solomon Islands as part of the Australian Government's assistance took time out to remember one of their own.
Private Jamie Clark, while deployed to the Solomon Islands in 2005, died tragically when he fell down a sinkhole while patrolling east of Honiara. A valued member of Recon, Sniper and Surveillance Platoon, his loss is still remembered by his modern-day counterparts who, 16 years on joined together to honour him and his family.

I was there when Jamie passed away. I only spoke with him twice but he seemed like a fine young man. I know he was highly respected amongst his peers. Whenever I think of the Solomons I’m reminded of that sad period where we lost Jamie Clark and PSO Adam Dunning. May they both Rest In Peace.

RIP Jamie. I never worked with you, DUTY FIRST. Was 1 RAR 11 years , op plumb bob was the first trip to the Solomon's, C-COY RCG GROUP HMAS MANOORA 1999. You served your country well and will be missed.

I left the Solomon islands just as the conflict was starting. I was living in a tiny wooden hut. I could hear gunfire from where I was staying. I was on my own at night and glad to get home to Australia. The island people I knew were great people but there ware still plenty of war like people there. Many of the people from the mountains were still very tribal with there close ancestors having been cannibals.
