Sub 1800 players will nearly always hang onto material for dear life even if that means drifting into a poor position, and they will virtually never, ever sacrifice the exchange or a piece even when the position demands it.

How does a 1500 play the opening so well he makes your student completely dead lost and the knight is absolutely wrecking the entire position to then play an end game like that. Im sorry but my first thought is computer assistance out if the opening and then taking over. Its just so illogical to play the way he did into the way he did.

This is usually the opposite experience i have. All is well get castled and focusing strong on developing and all of sudden he makes a incredibly strong move and i begin to get the life choked out of me. I just beat that new 2150 computer first try along with the 1700 and played a pretty high accuracy game against the new marrin android bot. It makes no sense to me other than people are not playing legitimately.

Blacks c5 move in the opening was a weak move. I think youre overstating their opening play. I dont think accurately punishing bad play is enough to warrant cheating accusations at 1500. I would also find it weird to see someone cheating in the opening then taking over when most cases cheaters turn the engine on when they feel the game slipping away from them or alternatively play inaccurate opening moves to lower their accuracy then use the engine to win.

So if someone plays well in the opening, your first thought is engine assistance. If someone plays well in the endgame, your first thought is engine assistance. In reality, players have different strengths. Especially self-taught players. If someone blunders in the opening, my first thought is that in order for them to have my rating, they must be damn good in the endgame. So either I finish them now, or I face their final form in the endgame.

And in the same vein, if I get outplayed in the opening, I know that my opponent will have weaknesses as well. Maybe not in the opening, but if they have the same rating, they will have bad endgame technique, or some other weakness that I can exploit later on.

As a 1500-1600 who knows 3-4 moves of Opening Theory in any given opening I play, it's not that hard to figure out most common openings OTB. "My opponent played well, they must be cheating!" is ridiculously paranoid. You're beating yourself with that mentality.
