Glad you are well & safe. Great to hear from you and see you again on video. Of course, we're used to seeing the "back of your head", with your hair sticking up (haa haa haa haa). I look forward to more flying video's of course. I will never fly as its not my thing (I used to be a "jumper" back in the day however, so I do understand the passion). Best of luck to you. Stay Safe, Stay Focused, Enjoy Life's Journey-!

Hi, Laurie. Really enjoy your videos. Had quite a chuckle towards the end, when you said your ex popped in during your Oral exam debrief - that must have been unnerving, to say the least. Anyhow, glad you passed. Look forward to watching your Instrument training videos (hint!). Thanks for sharing your flying experiences and good luck! Cheers!

Love your relaxed style of presenting the Info., and your creativity in generating the animation will earn you more than a passing grade. Great Info for a student pilot, to chill them prior to the exam. Looking forward to your next video.

This is a REALLY good list of things to keep in mind for the oral portion of the checkride. Preparation is key. I did weather chart printouts and made a copy of the manual myself, too. Planning is good for the checkride and it's a good habit in general. You might not wanted to say it specifically, but usually the maintenance thing a DPE is looking for is "how do I know the airplane is OK?" Specifically, that all of the inspections have been done. A hint is that there's an annual, probably a 100hr, an ELT, an altimeter if memory is right. Partly you need these things to pass the checkride, but the other is that if you rent or borrow an airplane you should make sure those things are OK. For weight and balance, and density altitude, they do want to know that you know how to calculate it. But for normal flights, I do it a different way. I work backwards from a target weight. I calculate the heaviest passenger with a given fuel load and make sure I'm good. Then the same for no passenger and heavy fuel. Then heavy passenger and no fuel. Finally no passenger, no fuel. If you can draw a box around all of those, and your W/B is good, then you don't have to calculate any of the intermediates. Same thing for density altitude. Calculate the worst situation for your shortest/highest airport, heavy passenger, fuel, etc. Then, if you're less than that, you're good. For both of these, talk with your instructor or another pilot you completely trust and make sure those numbers are REALISTIC. Some planes don't fly well at all near max gross, and many performance charts are VERY optimistic. The only tip I'd add to your list is this: Do a little research on the DPE. This isn't cheating. They will all cover the required topics. But some have pet peeves, or areas that they expect outstanding knowledge. It could easily be area specific - in the north east, it's a safe bet that they need you to know how to fly around busy airspace and know more than a little bit about our rapidly changing weather. In mountains, I'd expect density altitude to be a big thing. Whatever it is, learn it backwards and forwards.

Thanks for the tips. I think for me the mock oral exam with my instructor was most important. Studying at home alone in your own head does not replicate the experience.

My DPE does not allow you to look up anything. You have to know it all by memory. Great video.

Excellent video content! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you thought about - Rozardner Flying Bird Reality (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a great one of a kind product for how to get pilot license without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my BF got astronomical results with it.
