Security is security - prevent , observe and report Law enforcement is law enforcement: maintain public order, manage public safety, and enforce laws. When you confuse security with roles traditionally reserved for law enforcement you’ll as an employee or employer get a huge lawsuit and the defendant listed is gonna be in alot trouble both criminally and civilly liable.

@JG-tt4sz, There are some security companies that provide excellent service by providing armed security officers to protect citizens in both private and public venues, including schools and places of worship. This is all good! However, there is a huge gap when it comes to training, retention, and pay. At the end its all State dependent. States like SC the division of Law Enforcement known as SLED, grants armed private security officers who are sled certified/trained the same arrest authority as a Sheriff’s Deputy on property only.

We are taught in Florida we are putting our lives at risk. If you are doing your job your risk assessment, location, and vulnerability should be assessed. Each location has its own risks bombs, chemical, people, plants, fires, all sorts of situations you go to work and risk your life. With all these locations a security guard, officer, or specialist should know the risks and so would your company, and OSHA requirements. Also where’s the CPTED for many of these locations? I agree with you on limitations corresponding with Criminals adapting to the knowledge of the limitations there are methods to assist efficiency in creating a resistance against Criminals. The issue is Clients on what they want us to do. As for arrests Felony in view, and to detain by proof he is a danger to him self and others different after he has been told to leave the property and he is in a physical altercation. Cities in different states have different Laws. And insurance.... need a lot of insurance and Law support what I mean is layers.

That "Expert" is full of it, we confront threats on a regular basis, I can't even say how many times someone has threatened to use a gun, tried to attack me or get in my face and I either have to pull my pepper spray out or put my hand on my gun and see if they're going to go for a gun. It all depends on the location and job description, if you're dealing with the public or contractors they can easily cause problems. Police have NO DUTY to save anyone's life, as ruled by the Supreme Court, "The Supreme Court ruled that cops do not have a constitutional duty to protect a citizen from harm, ruling that "[t]he duty to provide public services is owed to the public at large, and, absent a special relationship between the police and an individual, no specific legal duty exists"." Being in Armed Security / PPO for 7 years it needs to be a lot more professional, with equipment and training, it also needs to pay more, every school should have 10 or more Armed Security Officers patrolling outside or inside at all times.

Security can do citizens arrest the company I work for is law enforcement security and security officers we have protocols for supervisors and radios that connect with the police crown Vic’s and impalas an unmarked patrol cars we are a patrol here in my state handcuffs and all not all security companies serve the same protocol and law enforcement but me we are first response on the seen gun and pepper spray bullet proof vest their is no police around in my city who patrol properties are stores not enough even when patrolling their is 2 officers in the squad car in a dangerous area ! We are the new police and police are even join the business more because of pay and discrimination! I have a chief and major and captain in the ranks on uniforms badge to! I’m a rookie still getting my arms training and handcuff training I cannot drive the police car until I’m approved with my training! But as I’m patrolling I’m in a unmarked vehicle suv all black with lightbar not with marks! The skies the limit as a security officer not just surveillance!

I can see this going the same way as Blackwater all good in theory and a limited successes in the real world but when in comes down to it, it will all go pear shaped once litigation start to come in and prison terms are imposed and who are they accountable to government or private corporations?
@crinklecut3790
@crinklecut3790 Жыл бұрын
Exactly! As they get sued into oblivion and sent to prison they’ll understand this was a really bad idea. The cops are constantly sued and that’s with the barrier of qualified immunity. I can’t wait to see what happens to these lowly security guards. And the FOP won’t be showing up with a team of lawyers and money for their defense either.

@conservitarian1737 They will be Profit orientated with little or no regard to legislation and will overstep the mark. Your right they have no more power than the normal person on the streets so for argument sake they tell some teenager to move who are doing nothing wrong 1 of 2 things will happen the teenagers rights will of been abused or the situation will escalate police will be involved and the teenagers will be the ones that done. What right has my next door neighbour to tell me I cant stand out side his house on a public street and it's going to be the same for these private neighbourhood security firms

A lot of times security guards or officers enforcing the rules and regulations. They can do citizen arrest on people but also if there active shooters and much more. There’s a difference between hiring just a security company to sit behind a desk all day and the contract just wants them to sit and twiddle there thumbs or there company that go out and are patrolling and making a difference.
