These men and their cartoons were instrumental in the winning of the war.

Dr. Seuss prior to America entering the war did a lot of anti-Nazi political cartoons, some of which due to the anti-war nature of America at the time, were considered controversial. When the war started he enlisted in the Army and served writing scripts. I heard he was terrible at shooting in the Army, he said the only way he could bring someone down with a .45 caliber revolver was to throw it at them.

I've read that Yertle the Turtle was Hitler, and that "Marvin K Mooney, Will You Please Go Now?" was Geisel's call for Richard Nixon's resignation.

The story was that Scheslinger got the contract because his big was half of Disney's bid. There was no mention of owning the character or merchandising. But it wouldn't be surprising.

Anyone remember the Gremlin from the Kremlin?
@patrick-lt2nv

Yes, it was called "Russian Rhapsody" from 1944. Walt Disney was working on a Gremlin movie in the 1940's and managed to stop other studios from making theirs. But Warner Brothers had two cartoons that were two far along to be stopped, but they agreed to remove the word "gremlins" from the titles. So "Bugs Bunny and the Gremlin" became "Falling Hare" (1943) and "Gremlins From the Kremlin" became "Russian Rhapsody". Most of the little guys are caricatures of the Warner Brothers cartoon staff, and they really give it to Hitler!

Snafu was the Kenny McCormick of the day. If the enemy ever saw these it would not have helped them win the war in any way shape or form.
