We had a private tour of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and got to see the Tomb of Haile Selassie.

I am amazed that you did not take your shoes inside the church (the guides too) . In Ethiopia in all Orthodox churches we take our shoes before entering in the Holly church .

Yes we were surprised as well. One of the guys in our group had visited there last year and he was expecting to do that. But since the church was under renovation…they had all of the carpet pulled up and nothing set up they said to leave the shoes on.
