There’s a little over a two-year wait to receive a privilege 580. They are backed up on orders & wont be able to start construction for about 1 year & then it takes 50-60wks to construct it (12-14 months). They are only building 4 of these a year.

Does the new 580 still offer a large "centered" master cabin as in past models? with the upper seating area available I'd prefer a larger spacious master cabin with tall lockers.

@@catamarancentral For sure. My daughter is 7 and watches these videos with me sometimes and she will give me a dollar here and there and tell me to buy a Lottery ticket. She wants to swim with the dolphins real bad. As a teenager I learned to sail and crewed a few sailboats for people that would buy boats and transport them up to New York, Maine, Labrador, etc. But that was 30 years ago. I've always wanted to go back to that lifestyle and catamarans just seem more spacious to me and don't heel like a regular sailboat does. I never even set foot on a catamaran my whole life. They look awesome.

I think an argument could be made that the 510 signature has the nicest master cabin under 60 feet. Not the 580.

You could make that argument, and maybe be right? I'd personally pick the Lagoon 560 master from a layout stand point.

Nice boat, nice review. What I can't understand... She definitely looks like a private boat rather than a charter one. But do private owners (even with a crew) really need and use FOUR dining areas? Two cockpits, saloon and flybridge. It looks like a boat for eating rather than for sailing.

I have been eagerly awaiting this boat. I truly appreciate the quality and build, my favourite. However, compare this with the old Privilege 585. Some disappointments. They should have employed some Italian designers for living space. It Looks like IKEA designed the Living spaces. All the seating is up and down, like on a bus. For a $2 million dollar boat the living space styling is lacking.. It's a bit too utlitarian. For reference look at the interior of the Outremer 55 " Great Circle "

Seems heavy 29 tonnes light (Gunboat 15 t). 34 fully loaded. Wonder how good it sails. Can it sail 5 knots in 5 knots of breeze?

@@pred7949 I'm not sure which direction you are coming from. The Gunboat is so elite compared to the Privilege or they are different classes of yachts (performance vs dock boat)? I did it to point out to people that there is far better sailing options (far lighter, faster options). To show that a Privilege is nearly twice as heavy as a performance cat. If you buy a sailing yacht, why would you want to motor all the time? The best sailing IMO is in light breezes like 5-10 knots, why would you want to motor in that? Look at all the sailing catamaran KZbin channels that move (or want to) to better performance cats after experiencing an average cat.
