This is the version of Act 3 Aurora variation that I always come back to. I’m smack dab in the midst of preparing for a weekend ballet intensive where I’ll be teaching in Amsterdam next weekend ,& I’ll be teaching this variation. I’ve just perused videos of 12 other principle ballerinas’ performances - and none of them are quite “it” for me. (and mind you, some of those performances are from some of my favorite dancers ) Madison Young’s interpretation comes closest to the way I performed it & teach it - most importantly her musicality and phrasing - the purity of the choreography Thank you for not embellishing or adding what I feel are superfluous steps - and most importantly, thank you for honoring and interpreting the musical phrasing in a rather literal way. So kudos to her coaches & to Madison… & she was only 17 when this was filmed. I was happy & not surprised to read that in 2022 she was promoted to principle dancer in Bavarian State Opera Ballet!
