Don't swap the VG! They are pretty stout and can reliably and easily make 400 with valve springs cams and a turbo. They came in a bunch of nissan cars including the Z31 so there is plenty of after market support. A 71c s13 transmission is also bolt on if you have a manual vg bell housing

if i read currectly, the nissan gloria came with a diesel option being the RD28, which is basicly a diesel RB, so your theory stands correct, you might be able to just drop in an RB After more reading, turns out the gloria had options all the way from the VQ25-VG30 to the infamous RB25 (neo) i believe

Jgtc cars have completely modified suspension and modified wheel wells/archs. There’s a recent wrx build floating around built with the same styling. Looks cool for sure.

It doesn't matter that you can't preload, research "preload is a myth" on youtube and you'll understand, all it does is to keep the spring tight and not clanking around when drooping, which a helper spring does the same thing, it gets basically fully compressed with weight sitting on it but keeps the spring from being loose when drooping. Many coilovers, high end ones actually adjust the height directly via the spring perch, with the use of a helper spring, another perk being that your suspension travel effectively shortens the same amount as you lower the car, which is what you want to prevent a hard bottomout from the suspension being mechanically limited, instead you actually make proper use of the bump stops. You won't ever really see an actual race coil with shock length adjustment, usually just spring perch, even for super high end like AST, Nitron, MCS, etc

Love the content man ! As cool as it would be to swap the VG30 out of that thing. It would be so simple to swap a Z31 manual transmission and stock turbo setup with a simple intercooler system you’d be pretty close to 300hp if not maybe more depending on supporting mods. Plus NAT2 VGs with the T3 turbo sound amazing.

I have a good idea for an engine swap, a VQ35DE, it's reliable, has options for manual trans, has lots of bolt on mods, and you can find them in almost every Pathfinder, 370z and other Nissans.

As aZ31 owner my advice would be to keep the VG30 it’s a great engine excellent internals and even in NA form can be Turbo’d very easily also the sound is far better than any 4 banger. 😆😆😆😆

You should go RB25DET! 95 and older(y33) Gloria offered RB25s and (y32) offered RD28 (diesel version to the RBs). Also believe the body is the same as the Cedric minus the front styling.

JTCC cars ran very oversized wheels, mostly custom suspension arms, and limited steering travel to prevent the wheels hitting the fenders.

z32 subframe is wider than the s/r chassis. s13 diff has different mounts so you cant use it in z32 subframe. you can use a s14/j30. or put the welded/lsd carrier from the s13 into the z32 diff. they are both r200 short nose with the same axle spline count. you will just have to find a solution for axles/stubs. weither you use 6 bolt or 5 bolts. z32s also have longer axles, the same lengths as z33, j30, and g50 q45. or take the easy route and just weld the vlsd.

Looks like your part of the vg game now. The motor is the same as early z31 300zx, so any old 300zx trans should theoretically bolt to the vg block.

i use a z32 diff on my s13 just swap the rear cover and get the matching diff ears to match the axles in your case you would need a s13 diff with 5 bolt ears or a s14 diff easy bolt on choise , but any z32 manual NON TURBO z32 diff is the same gearing as the s13 4:08 gearing.... on another note that gloria should have some chassis similarities with the infinity Q45 if you run into any at the wrecking yards

grab a used manual na diff and shim the vlsd, you'll have the quicker lock and a 4.08 final drive. They're pretty abundant on the z parts groups on fb, the tt guys can't hook with the na diff

All NA z32 are r200 4.08 rather auto or manual. it’s the same ratio as a stock 240sx r200 4.08 only the TT had the longer ratio of 3.69 and it was a r230.

That vg is a good motor but horrible to work on my experience from vg series motors is the best upgrade or fix is throw it away. You’ll love spark plugs #6 is behind the plenum on the back of the head
