My Civic Type R sounds SO much louder with these new parts. I installed the PRL Turbo Inlet Pipe and RACE MAF intake tube. Also added the freshly calibrated Phearable Stage 2 tune.

That black gunk that’s sitting in the turbo housing is probably the excess oil that’s rerouted from your crankcase into your intake. That’s to relieve crankcase pressure. It’s typically normal to see that because forced inducted cars usually produce more oil residue. Installing an oil catch can would solve that problem.

@@j-pargefournier3114 force induction just means the density of air is increased from either a turbocharger or supercharger. You’d still see oil residue even with a naturally aspirated car, just not as much. That’s normal for every internal combustion engine.

Correct PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) causes this; also recirculated BOV. In particular with forced induction engines it is more noticeable on the surface of the intakes side of the turbine blades of the turbo. This is also why cars will need MAF and throttle body cleanings after +100k miles. Andy is correct that installing an oil catch can that is not recirculated will solve this.

The MAF is a key part of making smooth big power at the samller housings cant read the air properly I love my 4" Rampage Mega MAF housing - with a good tune its silky smooth - smoother than stock which was a nice surprise

For hard to reach nuts and bolts. I always shove a piece of masking tape on the socket. The tape is just sticky enough to hold in the socket when it comes lose and take it out.

I ordered a inlet hose for my 2.0l NA Honda Civic 2020 6speed from prl will get it Wednesday excited to put it on. Btw love the build 2.0 Civic way better then the smaller engine with turbo, 2.0 NA and type R is the way to go

Your turbo looks perfectly fine. As long as the fins edges are not jagged from ufo's your solid. If you were able to tru and give it a wiggle in and out and up down. Make sure no shaft play. Other than that your solid 👌

@@Camhill182 no prob also. I know its a newer car but spark plugs are highly ignored in modding cars. Your higher rpm at WOT breaking up could be from spark plug gap opening up some. Idk how many miles you have on em but with higher boost in "general" spark blowout" could be a thing. If so talk to your tuner about closing the gap if needed. Im not familiar with type Rs. When you run ethanol eventually. Oil changes and spark plugs should be. More frequent for a routine maintenance

Hey Cam! I had a question about the rubber bushing that goes on the inlet pipe. I installed it like it says in the manual by getting it in that tab and then sliding the metal sleeve in from the bottom, but it seems like the bolt has nothing to thread itself onto. Any idea why that would be? The pipe seems secure with all the steel lines on there but I’d really like to get that last 10 into the bushing to make it 100% secure

I’ve watched yours and countless other installments videos of the PRL inlet pipe and intake. I also very recently installed both with the hondata maf sensor and jailbreak my car with the hondata and flashed it. Though, when I did everything, my car did not start up as I expected it to, rather it started up like staggering and ready to like turn off. I let it warm up a bit and drove around and notice that I got the engine light turn on with rev match problem turned on with the fluctuating of the rpm from 1000 rpm to 1500 rpm. I don’t know if you or anyone know what’s going on with it? I checked for leaks and found out I did have one but I put everything back together and retightened everything but the problem still persist. For the maf sensor, did you use the tune “stock intake +hondata maf sensor or PRL HVi intake race” for I tried both and still nothing. I scanned the ECU to see what the code is and it read P0507.

Any mod that’s done to anything powertrain related done before the cat can void and will most likely void a warranty. Intake, tune, dp, IC, inlet, can all void a powertrain warranty. A cat back exhaust is basically your only safe bet.

I’m doin all this next summer too my Type R. Cam don’t buy the spoon springs. I have them and they are coming out. Bought them after they added the rubber wrap and the driver side still knocks. I’ve had multiple shops look at it including a certified type r tech that also ownes and works on lowered cars. Apparently it’s the springs themselves. I’ll be switching to the swift or eibachs.

My F'ing HVI is literally disintegrating. And I keep my engine bay as spotless as possible. Front plate in front of the filter is cracking everywhere and the side where the door comes off is literally crumbling into pieces

The factory heat shield is on the turbo. it is not on the downpipe, however

@@Camhill182Negative, there’s two heat shields on the factory down pipe. Upper to keep heat away from the turbo inlet pipe and lower to keep heat away from the radiator. Your turbo is directly exposing excess heat to the inlet pipe. Being an fk8 owner and having checked external temps, it’s about a 150 degree difference from turbo to heat shield and another 50 degree difference from heat shield to turbo inlet pipe.

@@Camhill182 that may be true, check on the right and see if it has a bolt hole. The top attaches to the turbo and usually there is no bottom bolt. The two bolts will work with no issues.

Inlet gasket installed the wrong way cuz the legs of metal gasket are supposed to be facing outward away from the compressor not how you did it. That will cause leak.
