I asked Professional Baseball Photographer Brand Mangin to critique some of my latest baseball photos. We went from the approach that he was a photo editor for a magazine and was going to tell me what's good, what's bad and what's great. This is how a critique is done!!! Hello everyone. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch Part Two here of our baseball critique. Once again I need to point out how cool it was for Jared to lay his work out there in public to be seen by everyone as I commented on it. And yes, before you can say it- I KNOW I SAY YOU KNOW ALOT. Sorry. it's one of those annoying things I don't notice as much in real life but man I challenge anyone to record themselves for an hour and see what comes out of their mouth naturally. If we ever do this again I promise I will try and do better. I love baseball and photography- thus I love talking about baseball photography. I have been doing this like crazy since 1987- that's 35 years. I had a blast doing this with Jared. I can talk about this stuff all day. I care so much about this stuff and just because we are talking about the big leagues doesn't mean it doesn't relate to high school or Little league. I shot lots of ten-year-old games this past season and had a blast- and made some amazing pictures. it's all about trying to make the best pictures possible based on being the most prepared and informed photographer you can be. and having fun while you do it! Very cool to see you discuss some ideas with Jared here Brad. I love the in-depth breakdown of your thought process that you have done a thousand times. I don't know that most of the viewers here will understand the thought process that most sportsshooters go through if they're doing the job on a daily basis. I'd be happy to invite Jared to come shoot my team next year. I'm the Williamsport (Pa. and since Jared is in Pa anyway, he's close-ish) Crosscutters (MLB Draf League team) team photographer and I'd be happy to have him come see a small, minor league team and one of the oldest parks in the country. Make lots of pix with all the access you can't get at major league parks. I'm sure the team would allow him the access I have for a game or two. Details baby! Gimme macro shots! On another 90 degree day in the Philly suburbs this was a good watch. Really liked his point about grabbing some shots from outside of Wriggle Felid, I wouldn’t have thought about that but there and probably Fenway are parks you should get them at.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I love learning about sports I don't shoot regularly or at all. The key always seems to be that you need a solid knowledge of the game, what to expect and then to be ready. I loved these critiques because I've spent the last 2 seasons doing this for my kids baseball and softball teams for fun. #GotThisFar Staying in Flushing made it so much easier to get in and out of Citi Field. Everyone else is going the opposite direction, so I had lots of room on the train or platform.

End of the day sometimes forget about peoples decisions, it’s only your decision on photos that matter, fair enough you want to hear feedback from someone else but always keep in mind your photos are only good if you think so

I get what he's saying about the dirt and grass being a dead space from the first shot, but i liked the composition you had better and wonder if that opinion would change if it was able to be shot at a higher aperture like F16 or so to get the dirt and grass in focus and textured.

#gotthisfar why does your webcam not look as good as Mangin's Mr Pro KZbin Guy??? Great video though, I loved the photo behind the plate at night with the ball between the batter and the catcher. Also the wide shot of Wrigley with the ball right off the bat. Oh and the detail of the ivy on the brick wall was *chef's kiss*

I know it’s off topic but I’m buying my first 70-200 2.8 for sports and was wondering if I should save for the Nikon z, or use the Ftz adapter with a used vrii or tameron g2? Right now I have a z50 for my camera and plan to upgrade to z70/90 when it comes out.
