The base part that Scott played was really well done! Bass playing is about choices, and how we help color the music without getting in the middle of it. Excellent example of just that!

I am surprised that Scott didn't love his tone because I thought it was fantastic, especially during the chorus. I Didn't expect it to sound that great playing with fingers, but it really worked for me. I love this series and it would be very cool to see Josh from BassBuzz trying it!

Back in the day, this was how I taught myself to improve my bass playing. Take a random song I don’t know and right my own bass line for it. Really gives you an ear for tone and notes, for added difficulty I would pick genres that didn’t normally have prominent bass. Would love to see more of this from you guys

Scott, I'm surprised you don't know Papa Roach. Personally, I think you were more creative than their original basslines, and I liked about 95% of the lines you chose. Super great work! I really liked seeing your process as a working musician. Thank you for letting us observe your creative thought processes. This was a fun video type, challenging Scott to play something he didn't know (which was probably really hard to find... he knows a lot about music of all kinds). Thank you all for posting this! Yea Drumeo has come up with an absolute killer format and i love you guys doing this too! Honestly the only thing i am missing is the nomination at the end. i would love for you guys to give OG bass youtubers like David Carracio a go at this. or any other well known bass player. and let your guest nominate someone else at the end of the run for me that creates a cool hype and anticipation for the next video in this series. Also i love the podcast you guys dropped earlier! the long format is perfect, i love my podcasts a bit longer. the screensharing is very pleasing. and i love that multiple different topics are discussed. honestly a little bit less script is a win in my book. talk about what you guys have going on in your life musically or even personally and vibe of that. I also like that you guys still stay true to the original SBL purpose which was and still is Scott's bass Lessons, the courses you guys have and still push to young players should always remain :) much love!

Scott's version of the part reminded me of a story from when I was studying audio engineering, back in late '99-early-'00. During the class, I had a chance to play bass on a few recordings and, since I was in my prog phase at the time, I liked to make the bass parts a bit ... interesting. During one session, I heard the talkback mic open up while I was playing and the instructor/producer yelled "John, stop playing so many g*ddamn notes!". I don't know why I was suddenly reminded of that. LOL
