Yeah but they were thinking that UK would be a freeloading leeching moocher in EU after leaving, keep getting all the benefits of membership, while not being a member. Cant blame EU for UK schools and hospitals falling apart and people not having housing, it's all on Westminster, as it has always been.

@@pete_lind I think they expected the EU to die without the UK. Without the greatness of the United Kingdom the EU would wallow in misery and despair and just fade away while the UK would chuckle at the foolishness of the Europeans. The EUs failure to do so is the betrayal, the UK NEEDS the EU to fail, its brittle ego demands it.

Funfact: Amerika is also the name of a part of the town of Penig in Saxony/Germany. 50° 55′55 N, 12° 44′00 E. Inhabitants of Amerika: 44 according to Wikipedia. There used to be a spinning company "Stahlbau Amerika GmbH". It also has a train station which fell out of use after reunification in 1990. But the rail tracks are still there, so in theory you can absolutely go from the EU to Amerika by train.

@@SJG-nr8uj Those quotes are all true. The British misconception remains that you think that EU is an "outside" entity... A foreign body that imposes stuff on UK. The irony is that exactly that is happening now, since UK left. Before, UK was at the heart of decisionmaking, and had a veto right (and a lot of exceptions and rebates). Now UK can only react. It can align or not with decisions in Brussels. Not aligning usually comes at an automatic cost as the bigger market always sets the rules (be it EU, US or China) Not being part of EU, makes UK a ruletaker, not a rulemaker. The only sovereign decisions that UK govt can make, is how far it can financially stretch its own population. So far, I am impressed...

The only people that gained wealth in UK are the top 10% earners. The other 90% have less money, less rights and less freedoms. But keep waving the Union Jack and point at mean EU... A little side note about Switzerland being outlined. That is not technically true. The swiss and the EU are working together for the transport infrastructure. As seen in the dark yellow line on the map, that line includes the Gotthard base tunnel that was constructed specifically to make transport through Europe from north to south easier. Just because the swiss aren't in the EU, they work with the EU in many fields. So Britain... ehm...?

Why the complaint by the _Express?_ BRexiters _knew_ this would happen - I heard them say, over and over, they _knew what they were voting for._ And some of those things include EU infrastructure projects (and other projects such as Galileo). The UK no longer contributes to the EU pot, nor to entities such as the EBRD. In fact, the UK specifically liquidated its assets in EU banks, so the UK has to go its own way, use their own money, restrain projects to within their own borders - it's what BRexiters campaigned for, it's what they _wanted!_

In fairness, I realised years ago, while working in a newsagent which afforded me the opportunity to read all of the daily newspapers and tabloids, that the perpetual state of anger is actually the primary purpose of the Daily Express and Mail. We often focus on stories about politics and crime but look closer and the flames they stoke are everywhere. A few years ago I came across a person in a comment section ranting about the RBL who run, among other things, the annual poppy appeal. Sure enough I traced the accusations back to a DM article where they found out that the RBL have somewhere in the region of tens of millions of pounds in the bank. Not actually an unreasonable amount of money given that is only really equates to £1 for every UK citizen but enough to drive someone without numeracy skills apoplectic. The story is clearly mischief because they have used something true but harmless to generate a negative story about a charity which helps war veterans. Why else would anybody do that? What saddens me most is the detrimental effect these things have on the mental health of some very vulnerable people. Putting the politics aside, these, often retired people, are being told daily and probably more often due to social media that even charities are against them. That the world is evil and the only way to fix it is, laughably, to vote for one of the same two political parties that have been running the country for decades, if not centuries.

On top of this you get the cycle where what they are saying is so obviously rediculous that people cannot help themselves but interupt and correct them. In turn they get pushed into their happy(ish) bubble where they are special and everyone else is stupid. It is a mistake to think this behaviour is new but social media has amplified it because it gives them more people to reinforce their delusions.
