I have popped beans from the 80's with this trick I learned from my mother. 1 part peroxide 3 parts water, I let them soak 24 hours and if needed a day in paper towel with the same solution. Cheers from central B.C. Green the planet.

This! I do it too and have had success popping old (and new) seeds. H202 softens the shell. I have had equal success with a 90/10% water/h202 solution in a glass, just drop them in and let them be.

The planting depth is determined by the VPD. So if you have a hot, dry environment you need to plant it deeper, if you have a cool, wet environment you plant it just at the surface.

I use a Holland Basics rooting cube. But everyone is different. Whatever method you use, it helps to keep your geminating seeds warm. 80-82 F works pretty good for me.

For watering seedlings or clones for a new grower...I find a turkey baster a great measurement for watering. 1 turkey baster is all that's needed for watering, per a day (of watering) for the first, 1-2 weeks. 1 baster at a time, then 2 once the roots start to set. Then water as normal to runoff (if in coco)

I use the paper towel method and then into a Solo cup. But, i put a clear Solo cup inside thecred one, so I can monitor the root development. Also, I invert a smaller clear cup onto the soil surface to keep it moist until the sprout takes hold, and then remove it. I use a seed starting mix from a living soil company to start them in, NOT Pro-mix, and NOT Miracle Grow Seedling Mix.

I use paper towel and soaking method together. I've heard that when you soak seeds, the good ones will sink within around 24 hours. I'll check them every 6 hours, give them a little tap if they're still floating. Then once they sink I move them to a paper towel until the tap root is maybe 1/4" long.

I do both, I soak the seed for 24 hrs then use the paper towel method into a zip lock bag in warm dark place. Then into lightly watererd soil or a pre soaked jiffy pod or rockwool cube as soon as I see a the tap root. I've also just been lazy and plant them straight into soil same with my clones too lol.

I do old school. Seed into a small 1 inch pot. Water with a syringe or turkey Baster. I usually transplant within a week and always up pot them. I learned there is an enzyme in our spit that helps the seed crack or breakdown. So if I really stubborn seed or the hull won’t come off I drop a little saliva on it and baaam. Good to go. Any stubborn seeds I will use a heat map under my nursery pot but that’s about it. I skipped using paper towel to avoid 1-3 unnecessary steps.

I popped a couple bag seeds that i had stashed away for like 15 years and used a 1% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution to incubate for like a day or two and all beans popped. It helps to smoothen the shell and kill potential pathogens like funghi and bacteria. Thanks for the video, great talk guys!

Then into dixie cup. Then into pot. For watering I use one of those restaurant ketchup squeeze bottles.

I messed up an early grow the summer before last and ended up with a herm, a tasty herm luckily. We smoked the flower and kept the seeds. These are now what I'm using to test different seed popping methods, growing styles and might even do a solo cup challenge for fun. It's all experience and finding what method you enjoy, most of them work fine.

I float my seeds on top of water in a small glass. This allows them to receive oxygen and have a source of water. I usually plant them as soon as they crack open. You can leave them like this for a week or so. I plant into hydrated peat pellets or directly into the soil. I keep my environment hot and humid to speed up their growth (90F+ and 60%+ humidity)

@dgc_growtalk I think when I speak of my 47 years worth of experience there may be people that think I may be bragging, they're wrong but it would sound like it though. I've been handicapped 12 years and in those 12 years I've been severely neglected by the government, regular people and even my family. It doesn't make me bitter. Just makes me want to try even harder to help people like myself. I'm blessed. First of all, I've got 47 years worth of experience. Actually I think it's 48 now and all I can think about doing with it is helping others. Commenting on this show makes me feel good but am I really helping anybody? I'm not going to stop watching the show. I just won't give out any long-winded comments like this one. Growers, love and every kind of love there is to the community. This is the hippie ❤️😁🤪😎✌️ I will be watching if anybody needs me 👍❤️

It's all about the roots. You growers ever notice different root growth between genetics? Here I should work with genetics with wide fibrous roots to grow better in the sand. More like a desert or dune plant. Most plants have three types of roots: taproot, fibrous roots, and adventitious roots. Adventitious roots are the only roots clones grow.

Seeds or good clones makes no difference to me. Good clones meaning taken young before 12 set of leaves or in veg. Branches directly across from each other at the node. Not a branch every other node. I just self poor clones to make seeds. I believe it's almost 45% less yield on the poor clones. There are 3 different types of roots on plants. Clones only grow one of those types. Clones never grow a true tap root.
