It was so awesome to see Brad try out a couple of my tutorials on his channel! I often get comments comparing myself with Brad and Guy Tang. It’s interesting because I don’t think that happens as much with other beauty KZbinrs such as makeup artists. I think this is because the pool of hair artists on KZbin is a lot smaller, and pro hair artists who show creative color are even fewer! One thing that’s important to keep in mind is that all hairstylists specialize In differing degrees in different areas of the art of hair. Some specialize in curly hair, some specialize in barbering, some specialize in special occasion styles, or cutting, or natural color, etc etc. The cool thing about the world of hair is that it offers so many little subcategories to satisfy a number of different passions, which is what makes it a great career path for creative/artistic individuals! That being said it’s hard to compare one stylist to another because one may have dedicated themselves more to one particular avenue of the hair industry whereas another may commit to something else! I know it’s tempting to make comparisons but I always encourage people to observe the merits of the efforts put forth by the person trying a new technique rather than comparing their work to existing work. Sorry for the long winded comment, when I first shared that Brad tried the inverted color challenge there were a lot of comments comparing the finished products and I just want to gently remind everyone that that is not the point of artistic efforts because two different artists will always produce different products! I love you guys and I know where you are all coming from but one of my main goals with my channel is to have hair be looked at as a valid form of art and I want to try my best to use my platform to respect other artists in every part of their journey! I hope you guys enjoyed the video ♥️

Watching this and reading your comment honestly made me want to try this technique on my own hair. I think it would be interesting to see how it works on my short hair, but I’m not sure if I could do that on my own head. If you have any tips for dying your own hair, that would be amazing.

I love your channel, my mother was a hair dresser and an amazing colorist for most of my childhood. She didn't do a lot of wild color but was amazing at fixing peoples home hair color or bleach disasters, she could bring peoples hair back from anything! also did a lot of blue hair..... not even sure if that's a thing anymore. she also taught and i spent many of hours in the chair after she let my hair grow out so she could show 2 or 3 different length boy hair styles. Watching videos about hair takes me to a fond place in my childhood. Thank you for all of your hard work.

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to meet with you again in a few weeks and have you work your creativity magic and skills on my hair and turn it into a (much needed!) seriously badass, colorful masterpiece that I'll get to show off to the world! One reason wigs could be holding onto color better/longer than hair growing out of your hair could do with the oils our scalps produce? Like having the natural oils going through your hair all the time is working to break down the color quicker than on a wig that doesn't have to deal with the oils at all? I'm just taking a guess here, but assuming the wigs are also human hair, your scalp oil would be the only main difference I could see effecting it beyond possible treatments on the wigs itself
@milaayuhara25385 жыл бұрын
Sorry but so not your fault he 'failed'. As a person that it's not a hairdresser, I think it's not even a thing about understand hair as it is about having an understanding of spatial imagination. I agree that every artist that works on 3d objects needs some sort of spatial awareness, in order to understand shape and placement... And he f_cked up when he layed the wig flat, distorting the shape even more... BTW he looks like a booger when he puts on the wig, which shows he doesn't even know how to appropiate and carry an edgy look

As a hair stylist himself, who also works with colour, surely he would understand placement already? So even if you filmed it upside down or back to front or from behind a wall, he should be able to conceptualise the placement without it being shown to him. Seems weird to me that he couldn't figure it out for himself.
@maggieperez11795 жыл бұрын
Well hair colorists can also specialize in certain areas/tecniques like maybe blondes/platinums, balayage, color melts, etc. So that's probably why he stuggled a bit with it. That happens with a lot of hairstylists. I've seen hairstylists be super good at certain hair colors but can't do an even platinum.
@mydogeatspuke5 жыл бұрын
@@maggieperez1179 I get struggling with the specifics of the style, but I was talking about the placement in relation to the hairline, which surely is the same regardless of the specific colouring technique? I think it was something like it not being close enough to the parting or something, honestly it's been over a week I don't have that great memory. But it was the kind of thing that you would expect to be universal for colouring, the first placement so that it falls properly when the hair is styled. Like once you move down the shaft and start alternating the colours some confusion could be forgiven, but the initial placement is something that would be the same whether you were doing something with lots of colour or just a block, even highlights, because it's about the shape of the head and how the hair falls, not the colouring technique itself?

Honestly I don't believe he's a real hairdressser. I don't even believe he had a licence in the beginning. He's all around shady and often gets things wrong in the weirdest of places. Most probably got famous because of his looks and overdramatic reactions, he just has a lovable personality, is all. You're right to question him, people follow him blindly when he obviously has limited knowledge in the area he's supposed to excel at.

@@natasagrzanic7896 good yo know I'm not the only one suspicious of people when things don't add up haha. Scientist here (well I used to be, recently switched fields but still know chemistry) Oxidation literally just means, it reacts with oxygen and this almost always means colors will change and the product will dry out.
