I've been obsessed with this group for like a week and i just realize they are full out dancing... they are the only girl group i can think of dancing this hard. Girl groups always make tamed and stylized choreographies, but this girls have no breaks. Now i love them even more.

The "Cookie" dance practice video's are even more impressive as they dance around 3 different bench set ups...no cuts, single camera and room. My fav NJ's track. Glad to see you enjoy it too.

NewJeans is a girl group under ADOR, a subsidiary label of HYBE. I think it was around November 2021 when Bang PD announced that Ador was being formed and developed by Min Hee Jin, who was known to be the former creative director of SM (now she's the CEO of ADOR). NewJeans hv 5 members, Minji (leader, Korean), Hanni (Vietnamese-Australian), Danielle (Korean-Australian), Haerin (Korean), and Hyein (Maknae, Korean). Their EP consists of 4 songs and 3 title tracks, "Attention", "Hype Boy", "Cookie" is the title track, and "Hurt" is the b-side. Also, I want to remind you, actually there's a lot of mistranslation in the music video, making the lyrics seem a bit too sexual but the Korean one has a way diff meaning and a more appropriate one, that's why the K-Netz don't really see the "problem" cause they think the lyrics are cute. The explanation for the word "cookies" in the song and wrote, that "Cookies" mean their albums. In Korea, "Making a CD" is also expressed as "Baking a CD". They bake cookies (=CD) and we'll continue to look for their cookies." As someone who's learning Korean, I actually don't really mind the lyrics bcs yeah it's not that inappropriate and basically makes more sense in Korean. For example the lyrics "Take it, don't break it, I wanna see you taste it" is talking about "us" as listeners to "taste" or "listen to" their album bcs they're comparing their album with the cookie (as you can see from the mv). For more explanation, you can check on their social media bcs they've explained almost everything there (and I'm bad at explaining in English, it's not my first language haha). For me the group looks promising, the aesthetic and R&B influence is immaculate, just so different, hearing how minimal their sound feels like fresh air, knowing the Kpop scene nowadays just got super complicated in a way that's a lot going on, both in the music/ instrument, dances & MVs. Sometimes, I got too overwhelmed by the crazy instrumentals bcs I can barely hear their vocals over it, even many groups debuted with MV that had a lot of effects so I just can't see/recognize their face (doesn't mean it's always bad tho). I just hope they'll keep this style in the future, love the fact that their music & MVs feel so nostalgic and relatable, just teenagers doing teenager things, like "Attention" reminds me of Shinee's Replay back in 2008. Made so many memories back :'D

Guys, you should know that you are only reading the English subtitles of a Korean song, not a song in English. Geez. This is A KOREAN SONG!!! Yes. this is suggestive. BUT, the lyrics don’t sound sexual at all in Korean. Rather, once you know the meaning, it sounds so confident than sexy. Why don’t you even try to know what it means in Korean, since it’s a Korean song? You should respect the culture of the country when you listen to its songs and don’t force the perspective of your culture. We generally use the expression of “bake CD” in korean which means “burn an audio CD”. and in this song, metaphorized an audio CD(which means their album) as a cookie. Bake a Cookie(which means burn an audio CD). And this is playing with words. At the beginning of the music video, a big cookie rolls in the background, and at the end of the music video, a big CD rolls in the background instead of the cookie. And in the middle of the music video, they alternately show CD and cookies. This is the proof. At the beginning of the song, the lyrics “Made a little cookie. Baked it just for you, this treat” means “Made a little album. Baked it just for you, this treat”. We don’t use cookie as a sexual word. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Cookie means sexual in English, so what? It’s a Korean song. Well, most of Koreans don’t know what it means in English. Actually there are too many sexual innuendos in English. Do you even know any in Korean? But should we have to aware all of those many sexual innuendos in English? We don’t even want to know your pervert imaginations of all those words..
