I've been thinking a lot on why NJ choreo is always so satisfying to watch and I think you brought up a great point. They fill space and switch between sharp and how you term "loose" (It's obviously not "loose", it's perfectly timed and what not). it makes a group of 5 seem much larger and fills the stage. They're not an exclusively synchronization group like GFRIEND or a balls to the wall athletic group like LOONA or IZONE.....they mix up everything. And not surprisingly, that "loose" choreo is very reminiscent of BTS. When i first watched BTS I thought "oh, they're kinda lazy and not synchronized" (I'm not a dancer) but later realized how specific and relaxed that choreo was. Little things like the girls not all raising their arms or them not all turning their heads really fills in empty space, it makes their choreo seem much more FULL in comparison to other small # member groups (like BP)

I watched a reaction video of newjeans by Korean choreographers months ago, they said that newjeans choreos are focused on rhythm and vibe instead of synchronisation. That makes them a bit different from other groups. They also noticed that newjeans choreos are not strict when it comes to execution. They observed that the moves are executed in different ways by the members, in short they have freedom to move how they want. I love that about them.

I noticed their choreos are more "controlled freestyle". What I mean by that is that the choreo is meant to look like they're freestyling parts of it even though they're doing exactly what they were taught. They have different levels and styles to their individual dancing, but if you watch all their vids you see that they're doing the exact same thing every time. I hope as they mature and become more comfortable on stage, that they will be able to implement actual freestyle to their performances, because that's a rarity in kpop and it goes really well with this group.

Their choreo reminds me a lot of TVXQ - Mirotic (check out the dance version of it). I know, very different song and style, but what they did similar imo is how ‘loose’ (lack of a better word) when it comes to the dance, they really let the vibe of the song take over in their dance which leads to moments where they’re not doing stuff in-sync.

Def should check out New Jeans OMG Performance version (I'd say number version 2 as you can see more of the dancing)!

I think they're making several "official" versions of the choreo like they do for their MVs... they also recently released a dance practice(?) for Ditto with choreo far more similar to the choreo seen in the MVs kzbin.info/www/bejne/haTIp6KamdOth5o&ab_channel=BanHeesoo I personally find it fascinating, love both the choreos and think it's interesting how the vibe can be so different with just a few changes to it!

They move parts of their body that is synchronized and other isnt. Like if a member move her hands this way but the other member move the other but their foot work is on par with each other and makes the choreo enjoy to watch. Its like the song is not made for them but they made the song fit them imo
