Another great mix! It's always fun seeing these different mixes you come up with, love it! I've been curious, have you ever watched DJ Matsunaga's Winning Routine from the 2019 DMC World DJ Championships? I don't fully understand how routines like that work, but it's pretty cool imo, both the shorter final version he's played live again in 2020, and the final 2 routine 2019 DJ vs DJ battle. If you have seen it thought it be cool to see your thoughts on it and or something like a breakdown on the techniques used like that. Thanks again for the content!

I do not believe one man can play very intensive set longer than 10-15 minutes. My GF controls Ableton while i play rekordbox =) Just a kind suggestion. Big fan of your work. I had 2 questions for you. First, curious about how the two tracks were playing in harmony at 4:04 , despite their key difference (9A -> 12B). Second, trying to replicate James Hype's volume fader cut technique, but I'm scared of abusing the volume fader on my DDJ-400. I feel the volume fader on a DJM mixer is probably more robust to handle that speed. Thoughts?

I am by no means at the level of Carlo but generally the key is determined by the mid- range, like vocal or melody. When he mixes those he's not combining the 2 for a great deal of time, as he shows on the video, he can use the high pass filter and other effects as well to 'make room' for the incoming track. Something I use a lot as hate being limited to playing in key. There are tricks to jump from any key really, loops, filters, drop mixes or even use the pitch without key-locking if the tempos will work for that! A musically trained ear might notice but 99.99% of people won't. Literally, practice with those 2 tunes and you'll be surprised at the options you have, or any tunes for that matter.

1) Dan is on something there. Because they're mash ups, the vocal and instrumental keys don't always totally line up, so you're a little more free to play around with mixing out of key. Also, just go by feel sometimes! Songs don't always have to me in key to sound great with each other. 2) Hmmmm, there's a point there, but you can try to see how far you can push your fader on the 400. Mine hasn't died on me yet, despite years of abuse hahaha

Ahhhhh, I can't really answer that! It depends on what kind of genre or mix I'm working with. Like, the S4 is perfect for intricate stem-mixing, but I'd go with some 1200s if I were doing a scratch routine video. Different tools for different mixes and genres Mike! :D

Ohhhh, that's hard to answer. Depends on your height Spencer! Some friends of mine own standing motorized tables, but any table that's high enough to allow you to use the decks comfortably will do

I finally broke down and built myself a table. It cost less than 300$ and can hold a set of turntables and CDJ’s with mixers. You’ll thank yourself if you do the same, if you can somehow. You could get most everything cut at Home Depot for something basic. A little sandpaper and paint later and you have exactly what you want without many compromises, and you won’t feel bad putting holes in it for wires when and where you want to. Good luck DJ!
