I work at a restaurant (not buffet) and I think that it’s shameful how much food gets thrown out!!! No manager should complain abt how much you eat as you clean your plate! I’ve been to buffets where customers load their plates up and take 2 bites… fill another plate and do the same…

I always HATED that chocolate fountain that Golden Corral introduced onto the buffet. It never failed, some lazy parent would let their little carpet crawlers loose at the dessert table and there was always one of the little heathens that would stick their fingers in the chocolate fountain, lick their fingers, then do it again. I remember when they first came out with the fountain, I actually looked forward to it.. When we went I saw a ring of kids gathered around it, sticking god knows what into the fountain.. All I could picture in my head a was one of the kid's Band-Aid floating around in the pooled chocolate, along with crumbs from their double dipping their cookies, cakes, etc. I never went back after that...

Everything about this situation is baffling to me: I have no idea why a business owner would ever open an 'all-you-can-eat' style buffet and expect to turn a profit, but I'm equally confused why people go to buffets specifically to try and bankrupt them. I struggle to find motivation to eat at the best of times so the concept of eating for value as opposed to eating a small amount of food that you actually really felt like eating is alien to me

OYG..Reminds me of the night my family went out to a local buffet, The Country Buffet, in northern California way back in 1988. I saw a gent dressed in cowboy gear, including a huge western style hat. I saw he had a plate piled high of the fried chicken,which they sold separately without the buffet . I looked over a couple of minutes later and the mound of chicken was gone. So was he, getting another high piled plate of chicken. I just figured he liked chicken and ate fast. A few minutes later, yup, chicken gone & up for another plate full. This time I wasn't distracted and watched him. He picked up a piece of chicken, held it down in his lap looked around used his other hand to lift the brim of that enormous cowboy hat and stuck the chicken inside, like he was just wiping his hair back, repeating the steps for all the other chicken on his plate. I figured he had some type of bag system under his hat. What a funny memory. Why not buy it. Oh, I guess he did!

I somehow stumbled across this video and leaned two things: 1) I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. My first thought was this guy was going to be obnoxious and want everyone's attention when doing this or get upset when an employee mentions something about limiting his food. (I've seen too many other KZbin videos where it ends like this) That was the furthest from the truth. Never once did the video make a mockery of the establishment with only positive comments about the food. (I know how hard it is to run a restaurant and make everyone happy. Now a days everyone is an "expert" food critic with their Yelp reviews and KZbin channel. It's refreshing to hear positive comments about food even if it's not the best you've ever had. (I'm probably coming off sounding like old grandpa but I'm just another "millennial". 2) I've never considered eating at a Golden Corral. The food looks good. Thanks for posting the video. My parents go to florida every winter as soon as Christmas is done. When I go down to visit I always take them out to GC the night before I leave as a thank you because they enjoy it so much. It may not be the best but it’s something they love and as they are almost ready to enter their eighties, I wouldn’t trade these moments in for all the wealth in the world.

Golden Corral is 5 stars for the money. Nothing is fantastic, but everything is good. For the price you get a huge selection of food. A small portion of everything is what I usually go for. Better then being limited to a few sides at normal restaurants

To your suggestion of talking to others: One time my husband and I were traveling, we stopped into a place for lunch and drinks. We asked the bartender how he was doing. He replied that he had to move that night after his shift and none of his friends came forward to help. He had to be out that night.... So that's what we did that night. He couldn't believe it when we offered to help. Oh. I've never been to GC. If they're still open I'll try it. My best guy friend loves the place.

Where i live our Golden Corral restaurant in my hometown looks nothing like that inside. All the food containers are always empty and stay empty due to a bad manager who does not care about the customers. She sits there and let's the food containers stay empty. That is why I don't go to the Golden coral in my town. I am surprised she don't get fired. And I ain't afraid to say what Golden coral this happens at. It is the one in Rockford, Illinois. Comedian John Pinette (RIP) has the funniest bit about buffets. I urge anyone to check out his videos on YT. I hope this virus hasn’t killed buffets. Vegas and buffets are synonymous. If the Vegas buffets go away, I literally have no reason to live.

Haven't been to a buffet in years and would always think man I need to hit up old country buffet sometime. Wish I went before the world went to hell. Great comment tho. There’s a very old taquería here in Mexico City called El Tizoncito, from way back in the 50’s. If you eat 50 tacos al pastor, they’re on the house. That’s the spirit. “Giving away food” on your business might just be the best marketing scheme, if you know how to do it. Great video. I always hit Golden Corral when I’m on your side of the border. My kids love it too. Edit: for everyone not familiar with Mexico City’s tacos al pastor, they’re actually pretty small. They’re traditionally made with 3 inch tortillas, so 50 taquitos, for some people, is really not impossible.

I've been to Golden Corral, but admittedly it's been many years. I always thought their buffet food was average. Not great, not horrible. It was grade C food. What you're showing seems to be a bit better than what I remember, but then again I haven't eaten there recently. Though, with COVID, I'm not doing buffets at all.

I live about an hour from the Golden Coral on Lindbergh Blvd in Stlouis Missouri. One of my favorite places to eat. Well it was. Once the pandemic started we went there once. They only had about half as much food out as normal. They also had very few workers out in each area and they had to serve you. So less food and hard to get served. Wasn't worth the price
