I prefer to fill the holes a bit extra, you pressed to hard and forced the Durhams out. Works for filling holes on everything.

Pro fill the hole in follow up with the grain with a Dry course paint brush. That what's called professional.

There was no point using the filler haha. Also, it looks he used Durhams putty which for interior wood filler is a great product. I'm my experience it is not meant to use for an exterior application

All sorts of wrong with this. It's galvanized ring shank. Pro tip, know the name of the nail you are using before you spout off about being a pro. Nail has head, shank, and tip. Also, what part of a nail is the tail? Nail has head, shank, and tip. Just ignorant. Better method is to set nail depth correctly.
