Van Dijk is superior than other defenders of his generation ,because he defends so effortlessly that none other can do . He knows the exact time for tackling, doesn't commit quite early , doesn't go for a beautiful sliding tackle or dive for ball recovery always , he does what is necessary minimally in a circumstance to get the ball or clear it out. His defending is really not eye catching in all time , anyone will be astonished what is in his playing for considering one of the greatest defender ever. But close analysis like this video can tell his supremacy . We , the Liverpool fan, are really proud to have him in our backline .

Thank you so much! This video was super helpful and informative especially since I play center back and Virgil Van Dijk is one of my idols. I also have a suggestion for the next episode. How to deal with long balls as a cb
@mdi30242 жыл бұрын
1.If you have some height as a center back most you need to have positional awareness to time the long ball and head it aware from the danger zone,how to use this is to always look around(positional awareness)before heading the ball as you have height on your side 2.if the man you are marking is also as tall you can position your body behind and make him uncomfortable to the head the ball or bring it down as his body is against your goal so you have an advantage that he has 3.if your a short defender,you have to practise the second option which is puting your body behind the target man and put pressure on him to make sure that even if he heads it before or controls it due to their height advantage but they are still off balance,giving you chance to mark out any danger 4.as a short defender you most likely you should be the last man defending or cover a taller defender for if his target man manages to head the ball back to a second striker
