One of the main differences between pros and amateurs is how quickly they identify weaknesses. In the shooting drill, It took Ryan about 3 attempts to realise the keeper doesn't like getting down low. Kieran never seemed to clock even though a lot of his strikes were technically really good

What I'm sure about the difference of pros and amateurs are always their mental skills. In FM I saw a lower league player with 20 dribbling, the same as Messi but their mental skills are really different. Another best example breakdown I've seen was in anime. An amateur would always stick to a plan. Pros have the flexibility and cunning to improvise the plan. Like if amateur see an open man, they will immediately pass it. If pros, they might just passed to the 3rd man instead to minimize risk and probably open up bigger space on the open man. Make it a comfortable 2v1 instead of riskier 1v1.

One of the most important things I found from my playing days and then subsequently going into coaching. The biggest difference between your professionals and just very good amateurs was always the understanding of the game, it’s why we’re thankfully looking towards intelligence as much as raw physical attributes at youth levels in this country now. It’s so painfully obvious in the one on one drill, and that’s not a dig at Keiran. For any young players, developing an understanding of the game and of your position tactically, is as important as running drills day in, day out.
@AIIXIII02 жыл бұрын
An anime pointed out that pros often can improvise a plan on the fly. Is that true? An example the anime show was with shooting. After picking a target, an amateur will always shoot it there regardless but a pro can change the target on the fly after seeing the keeper movement. The anime also pointed out that pros are cunning. The quote was "You don't need to always get 5 goals after 5 shots on target. Just make sure half of that went in." That forward proceed to demonstrate 3 half-assed far post shots before scoring easy shots after planting the keep with the far post idea. I do find the cunningness is exaggerated 😂 But I kinda agree with the mind flexibility to change target. Best example I come up with is whether to pass to an open man or using a 3rd man. I figured clever players who can started a potential 2v1 is pro material.
@sla78892 жыл бұрын
@@AIIXIII0 I mean, better players usually can take decisions way more quickly than worse players And when you’re talking about a pro, he should be able to take decisions on the spot So partially yes, pros are betters at improvising and choosing the best options Specially when you’re so good at something that you’re already able to memorize its patterns and tendencies (in other words, having a great understanding of the game), the level of conscious thinking needed to take the best decision is severely lowered
@chrisl4612 жыл бұрын
@@sla7889 The pattern recognition is interesting. There’s something similar in chess, where a grandmaster can glance at a position and instinctively know the weaknesses and which moves are worth deep thought. They can explain their thought processes, and amateurs can generally follow, but the snap judgement is a mix of natural talent and years of training.

I like these videos because it reminds us how good some people can get at specific things. There are 130k professional soccer/football players globally and 275 million players. That means the top 0.05% are professional. In reality, it's probably generous to call most of them professional (e.g., not enough money to live on) and it's probably closer to 0.001%. Go play another game and see how good you can get (in percentiles) - getting top 1% is usually *hard*, but going to 0.1%, 0.001% is orders of magnitude more difficult.

@mariadanielalavia88772 жыл бұрын
It's shoulder to shoulder, when you see someone pushing or shoving an opponent and the hit isn't directly shoulder or arm against arm the referee can call it a foul. Sometimes the referee is far away and might not see the foul clearly or is from a weird angle but each time you see a referee calling a "soft" foul it might be bcs the guy who challenged physically didnt hit his shoulder against his opponent but rather hit shoulder against the opponent's back/chest etc.
