Always a good day when Will releases another video. Another good day in FNP and great input from Dylan. Great banter between mates. Well done.

That was interesting. It’s good to jump onto your mind and ride the creative process of composition.

A good lesson about intuitive composing. That does happen when you spend enough time looking for compositions and studying other artists work. Finding something becomes a little more automatic.

Just watched the video and I really enjoyed the relaxed feeling that was portrayed. Simply wondering through the woods with a mate shooting whatever caught the eye was inspiring, as it proved that woodland photography doesn't have to be all about planning and tripods. Unfortunately, here in the UK, we do not have the luxury of having temperate rainforest woodland on our doorstep, but we do have some areas of ancient woodland which can provide some great opportunities for nice compositions. Many thanks for this video, but I have to ask; Flipflops in a forest!! 😳

I've recently come back fro the Fiordland forest and must confess that I found it very challenging. But I must confess, I stayed almost entirely on the trail.

It is challenging for sure. I’m generally in areas with no trails. Cheers.

Really enjoyed that session. Such nice light...its so gloomy in the UK at the moment, hardly had any decent light in weeks. Love your shot through the haging moss.

Thanks for another great video. Talking Dylan through finding shots in the forrest was really helpful. Using a narrower aperture for focus stacking is also a tip I'll be using. Just started using my camera's stacking feature and hadn't taken that into account.

Appreciate the support Ken, thank you mate.

I read completely the opposite "For stacking photographs, the ideal aperture is around f/5.6 or f/8 because they have just the right depth of field. Anything above and below these values, and you may start finding aberrations" I have always stuck with f4 on my M4/3rds and this has always worked extremely well.

That's what I assumed but had the very problem William described with a focus stacked photo last week. I was close enough to a large cluster of plants on a clift edge overlooking the ocean that multiple shots were taken of it before focusing on the background off in the distance. There was so much blur from one layer to the next of the plsnts that they wouldn't merge cleanly in Photoshop.

This is a great reminder to just bring the camera on forest walks and have a good time! I often leave it at home unless I'm planning to do photography, already have a composition in mind, and expect some fog, but that means lots of pressure and not a lot of actual photography. Also, "Don't be afraid to do a little bit of yardwork in your landscape" 😂

Love your videos. I am actually coming to New Zealand June July for the snow and will be staying up at Milford sound for a night could you tell me which track is best to get some of the rainforest covered in snow. Pretty excited about coming to South Island.
@WilliamPatinoPhotographyКүн бұрын
Nice. You’ll have a great time. Getting snow in the forest is quite hard, because we don’t often get low level snow here. You generally need to be at a higher elevation during or just after a fresh snow dump. There’s the Routeburn track which can get you high enough. For forest without snow, there’s pretty much unlimited potential all through Fiordland.

@ thank you so much for the reply. Never seen snow before so will be good where ever I go.

Hard to get a good composition in such a tangled forest. Were there no forest floor creatures? Brave choice of footwear.
