this is very helpful! I already did it in practice but now I practiced it more so I have more quality chances and I can cut to the middle more easily thanks

Is the weight of the foot I’m punch jamming on the ball of the foot? I feel like my heel and mid foot want to catch?

What's the purpose of the "tap tap tap" on the first drill? Is it to simulate the traditional 3 quick stride starts?

Sorry for the late reply, yes you are correct. Just a verbal cue to be quick with the first 3 steps on a quick start.

My left foot punch jam is good but I can't seem to do it with my right foot. Any tips? Does it also have to do with the certain skate sharpen I get and which one would you recommend so that I can easily shave ice instead of getting my blades stuck in the ice when I attempt a punch turn.

Thank you for the question. If you're able to perform a Jam Turn with one foot than the other will get it soon, your sharpening should be fine. Be patient, it's a tough skating skill to master. you'll get it I promise! As we all know everyone has a dominant foot or side that they perform skills on. Continue to work on your weaker side. Begin very slow, make sure your weight is over the ball of your foot and that your lead foot (the one performing the Jam) is slightly out in front of your body, you want to be in a neutral position on your skate blade (over both your inside and outside edge), as you perform the Jam (like a 1-foot stop) you'll end on your outside edge which will allow you to stick to the ice and cut followed by completing the turn with the lagging leg gliding around turning your body. Start by gliding on the ice slowly trying to shave the ice with your lead foot in that neutral position on your skate blade once you're comfortable then you can begin to add some speed. Keep me posted on how it progress'.
