Michigan does not need to have illegal workers. We need jobs for citizens. We need employers to pay fair wages to American citizens.

How about this speak English? My grandparents came over this country. They had to speak English before they can get a job or anything. You’re begging for me to pay your way through life and you can’t be bothered to learn basic English.

How well has it worked out for New York and Chicago in regards to being a Sanctuary City? It's going to be an absolute mess...

As someone who lives in New York, it's worked out pretty well. Latin food is some of our most popular cuisine and everyone agrees latinas got the best ass.

26 years of working, but couldn’t find a few years to learn English. This is what’s wrong.

She probably does know English but isn't confident enough to speak it formally. Also if you're working like 60 hour weeks, it's hard to learn enough English to be fluent. My yiayia and pappous came to this country when they were young (my yiayia was 16 and my pappous wasn't that much older) and they spoke broken English their whole lives. It didn't stop my pappous from serving in WW2 and becoming a successful furrier in NYC. It doesn't matter how much English they know. What matters is how important they are to their families and communities. If you think learning a second language is so easy, why don't you tell us how many other languages you speak?

@nate6045 you have 60hrs per week to practice it while your working though. These people can't talk and work at the same time? Send their azzes home

I don’t want Spanish to be a workplace language. Speak English in the USA. You want a job and have been here for years and never tried to learn English? Why not? If you loved America you would have learned our language. I'll pay your airfare home. Adios.

That’s the plan to get you to speak Spanish

@@vanpearsall what's wrong with speaking another language? You act like learning Spanish is a bad thing.

Delayed Ignorance or completely out of touch, either way Michigan isn't going this way. Wasting our resources on people who are going to be removed anyway seems misguided and frivolous

In 26 years she has not had the time to become a citizen? If she's working and paying taxes she's not the ones they're after. Get to work on becoming a citizen.

This comment section is cooked. So many people criticizing her for not speaking English and speaking about her like she's a piece of trash. How many languages have you all learned? You act like it's so easy. You're not doing us any favors by enforcing the lazy entitled American stereotype.

If I moved to Mexico I'd learn Spanish, Germany, German and so on. It's insulting to go to another place and not embrace their ways.
