Very helpful video. I was frustrated that the loop of the anti-skate weight kept slipping off and couldn't get it to stay. The mention about that metal peg sometimes being out of position made a light bulb go off in my mind. Changed the angle of the peg and no more problems! You saved me an untold amount of further frustration. Thank you!

Got one of these 3 days ago. Set up straight forward as shown in the excellent video, however US and Europe have a different cartridge and Project's online manual suggests a different antiskate line position for the Pick it Pro tracking at 2 grams. Sounds great so far and I look forward to getting some more hours on and seeing how it beds in. I did buy the Puck as well as it looks great but wether its any more than an expensive alternative to my old cheap rubber bung remains to be seen.

Hi. Just bought a Pro-Ject primary E. Trying to set up the stylus pressure, should I also use the 20 on the pressure gauge? Why are there several numbers to chose from? Thanks!

yes, the 20 would get you to 2 grams. There are other numbers for other phono cartridges that might track at a different weight. Thanks for watching

Thanks. Got it running :-) Amazing difference to my realy old one :-) Regarding the 38 degrees of the antiskate weight: I had now a few times that the loop of the antiskating is pulled of his groove at the end of the record. I tried to push the loop a bit in a smaller shape and it seems to work. But maybe there are other/better tricks?

Hello sir, in fact you place the marker anywhere on the board? on the drawings they show to put it on the edge of the shelf. I see that you put it just anywhere, the location does not matter if I understand correctly but only the weight?

That's correct. You can place it anywhere since it is just the weight. Pro-Ject does recommend the edge so that's always a safe bet if you prefer.

Nice video. I have a Project Debut Carbon with an acrylic platter and a 2M blue cartridge. Do you think it would make any sense/audible difference upgrading to a Debut Pro?

Hi, I had a question about anti-skating on this turntable. I set it following your instructions but the wire with the weight once the arm approaches the innermost tracks tends to slip out of the notch, forcing me to reinsert it every time. How can I solve?

@@AudioAdvice yes I have followed your instructions only that however when I approach the last innermost track the wire slips out of the notch every time unfortunately. evidently the notches are too thin and cannot make the wire that supports the weight hook well.

Is it ok that the belt is "a bit twisted" vertically? (as shown at @2:55) shouldn't it be leveled?

The S has an S shaped arm with a bayonet type detachable head shell. If you like to switch out cartridges, it would be a better choice.

The turntable itself only has a very low signal which needs to be amplified. For that reason you need a pre amp to be connected to your turntable and connect that to your amplifier. The amplifier needs to be connected to speakers which then play the sound the turntable creates

See now I'm confused on which way the yellow tabs on the RCA cable go, you state that the end with yellow tabs go to the Pre-amp but other videos I see, say that they go into the Turntable.

We had to double check to make sure we did not make a mistake, but what we state is correct. This is from the manual "The Connect it E cable is a parallel symmetrical cable where the shield is only connected on one end. The yellow mark indicates this side. The marked side should always be connected to the receiving end (i.e. phono stage or amplifier)." Thanks for watching

I don't like the anti skate system I have been playing records for fifty years and have owned nice tables from vpi,thornes,rega just to name a few and have never had a anti scate system like that. I know its just my inexperience but I could never get the anti skate adjusted properly. so one day the record would play the next day it would skip all over the place. I just didn't like the arm myself but I'm sure that some pro-ject arms are not like this one right?

Did you watch the part at about 6:20 where we tell you how to adjust the anti skate little arm? That is likely your problem, this type of system has been in use for decades. What you are describing sounds extremely strange. It almost sounds like you are tracking way too light. If you purchased your turntable from Audio Advice we are happy to do a video chat to see if we can help you figure it out.

I bought one of this at a yard sale, I wanted to play my vinyl records but I found that the piece that goes under the record plate, the black one, where the belt goes, is too tight!! Causing the belt to slip, I even when I tried to spin it with my hands it is tight, I removed the piece under it and there is nothing irregular, it is just simply tight, may be a defect from factory, don't know what to do.

Are you sure you bought a Project Pro? It is odd that would be at a yard sale as it just came out and we do not recall it having the parts you describe, but in any case something is wrong.

@@AudioAdvice actually the model is Pro-Ject Debut 3, what I already did is I sanded the metal piece that goes down to make it thinner and it worked, I used 220 grid sand paper.

I just got this turntable, and I am experience a low sound directly from the turntable. It is connected to an iFi Audio Phono and then to a Sonos Five speaker. The low sound is playing first and then the actual sound coming out from the speaker is delayed a bit. Is this what is called needle-talk? And can I do anything or is it normal?

When you say low sound, do you mean acoustic feedback like a howl or roar, or do you mean the sound is low in volume? If it is the first, you have the turntable too close to the speaker.
