There’s a reason why universities don’t engage in politics. If they do then they’ll alienate half of their customer base and potential revenue. And ideally universities are supposed to be a place of free discourse so if the administration went out and supported one side or the other they would be viewed as biased. My university had this exact debate a few months ago and it led to the resignation of a professor from an administrative position because having a political bias would go against the very idea of a university and he wasn’t going to support that.

I majored in criminology, which is part of the faculty of social and political sciences in my uni. One of the first things we were taught by our senior in college orientation is how to protest properly. We even simulated the condition where police would come and try to hurt us. The best formation is to do 2 circles, in and out. Outer cirlce would be all male students since biologically they're stronger, they would be the human baricade. The inner circle is all female students and also the one with the speaker so we can continue shouting the chant for the protest loud and clear. This is just a suggestion for students who are out protesting right now. Bring toothpaste to protect your eyes and apply it around the eyes, just in case the police use tear gas. Be safe, keep your stamina, and don't skip a meal. Fighting genocide is a long fight. If you're asking why college students would learn this first? It was because in my country, there was a reformation move (the biggest one) in 1998 to reform the old corrupt and dictatorship system, and this is initiated by all college students in my country united. And we actually succeeded. So don't lose hope.
