When a small but militarily powerful country wishes to expand its borders, then peace is not in its best interests for peace does not provide a pretext for territorial expansion. It is advantageous for such a country to always be portrayed as the victim. Israel's funding and support for Hamas through various channels is no secret - through conduits like Qatar and other intelligence agencies. It's like if I have a neighbour who has a propensity for alcohol and I am eyeing his property, I buy him more alcohol so I can use it as an excuse to get rid of him. The Middle East is like a noisy classroom and in such a classroom the focus must be on that one student who appears to be quiet and well behaved but may not be so. Any small, powerful, landlocked country will resort to this Machiavellian strategy. Germany tried it in the 30s & 40s. In Gaza's case, the punishment appears to exceed the crime.

You do realize Israel razed all its settlements in Gaza and gave to Palestinians 100 Jewish free in 2005 right? Then Gaza spent the next few years building tunnels and smuggling in weapons just so they can attack Israel. This so called genocide only started once Israel was attacked so it is more of a war. There is still 20% of Israel that is Arab living peacefully in Israel with no problems. So no not a genocide. Now right when abut 15K people were killed in Gaza Hamas leaders said they were pleased with how the operation went and would 100% do it again. So what would you like to do? With all the hours, days and now weeks spent outside classrooms, lecture halls, research labs, libraries, study halls, etc. diplomas for 'graduating' [cough, cough] seniors must have an asterisk attached -- a la BA* Class ol '24. To all but the uninformed and most naive, that unfortunate yet necessary designation denotes the ton of course work not completed while skipping classes (in person or ZOOM); instead, protesting, trespassing and bullying and terrorizing non-protesting students, professors, t.a.s, administrators, school staff, etc..

The discussion in this war is absurd. First. Israel acted selflessly to live in peace with the Palestinians in Gaza. It was more than a decade ago when Israel itself ordered Israeli citizens who had lived there for decades to literally leave their homes. The first thing the Palestinians did in return was to elect a government that enshrined the goal of destroying Israel in the constitution. The elected government followed through with its promise. Since its founding, thousands of rockets have flown into Israeli settlement areas. Dozens of civilians died in terrorist attacks. Millions of aid funds - intended for civilian institutions - were misused to sponsor this terrorism. October 7th was just what Humus had been doing for years. Secondly. Israel behaved more humanely in this conflict than any other conceivable party in any imaginable conflict. It allowed Palestinians to work in Israel, receive medical care or even migrate to Israel. During war, they warn civilians where their military is operating. They admit collateral damage and apologize for it. The situation is clear. In no other conflict the responsibility for the suffering has been so one sided and clear - in no other conflict have the perpetrators been held accountable so weakly. People with voice and power who claim to reject war and the nature of war have a duty to unequivocally name the culprit of this war and do everything in their power to eliminate them. Everything else is responsibility for the resulting suffering and is as history has proved continuing this madness.

These "students" shouldn't just be arrested, they should be expelled as well, from all American universities for such shameful (and mostly, outlawed) behavior. The ones who are here internationally on a U.S. visa should be handed over to ICE after their arrest (misdemeanor implies a citation, but if you're arrested, you can and should be deported) & then deported to their countries of birth. The DAs of these states/counties can and should take up these cases in the interest of public benefit (law & order)...
