Pro Pinball: The Web (~15B, Showdown, ending)

As you can see, I am quite rusty at the game as I didn’t play for almost 10 years! When I saw there was no video with a Showdown in it on KZbin I had to fix this :) I tried to get to the Ultimate Showdown as fast as possible (for the purists, I did not bother getting Super Ball Rescue for it), and didn’t optimize for score.

* if you play The Web using DOSBox you may have music issues in the bundles you can find on the Internet, like the tracks being offset and then hearing incorrect music depending on the current event happening in the game (typically you will hear the Space Station Frenzy music in the game menu instead of what you can hear at the beginning of this video). To fix it, you will need to edit the CUE file along the ISO image. This file defines when do the tracks start and end. I have worked on a fixed CUE file that I can send you if needed. It is not perfect, but quite accurate (for example, as heard in Fast Frenzy at the end of this video, music starts too late).

Honestly once you know the timing from the explosion hole to the left flipper in order to reach the ramp you will manage to do it, just need to practice it a little bit :D I find the top-right targets being the hardest part as you can drain pretty easily.

@s8c What OS did you play this on. I still have the original disc and I’m worried it might mess something up with my windows 10 PC I use

I did play on Windows 11 but not with the original disc, I mounted an abandonware ISO image. If you can load up the disk and enable compatibility mode I guess you should be good to go!

@@s8c_I tried playing this earlier today with the original disc. Only the main menu in game works. I try to hit play and it kicks me saying “couldn’t create game configuration file”

@bmrful did you properly turn on compatibility settings? There should be an option to install the game somewhere, your issue seems to be due to file permissions but never saw it. I do have the original disc as well but no disc reader so I cannot try it for you. You should try to download the disc image on abandonware and use a mounting tool.

@@s8c_I have it on compatibility mode for windows 98 I didn’t install the game from the original disc. Looks like it’s original installer works. But i don’t want it messing up my windows 10 installing such an old program. I was trying to just run the game from the disc.

@bmrful from what I can see the installer will only copy the contents of the disc on your hard drive (minus the music tracks, you will need to still have the disc mounted). Running it then from your hard drive should not be different than running the program from the disc. I played it on multiple Windows systems (Vista, 7, 11, but not Windows 10 I’m afraid) and never got any issue.
