For me a good coffee is concentrated blackness and bitterness in a tiny cup, makes your heart race and slaps you awake. If you don’t like it or it’s not the right time for it, we have other options, some tea or infusion, hot chocolate or milk. If you go to a Starbucks in Portugal you will mostly find foreigners. Portuguese people are usually not stupid enough to pay almost 3 euros for a lousy espresso that tastes like gun powder, when they can get a proper one for 70 cents in any Portuguese café. Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands have the best coffee in Europe. These are countries where Starbucks just cannot take over the market. We know good coffee, so couldn't fall for the con even if we wanted. Their cakes are also crap. The salads and wraps are bland af. I'll tell you what tho, the egg sandwich is superb, and that, together with the coconut water and the Japanese iced tea, are really the only things that I will very much occasionally have there. But then again I can make a really great egg sandwich at home too. Russia is not missing on anything not having Starbucks.

Are you saying that the need to order basic black coffee that tastes like tar, has been cooking for about 19 hours, is overpriced by almost 3X, and keeps you awake for 41 hours, did not finally die with Tarbucks leaving the country? Granted, their other coffees are rather good.

When I was in high school living in Denmark, in 1984, I went to East Berlin with a school trip. It seemed like everything was in black and white and everything was flavorless imitations of food. Even the money was weightless and seemed fake. We had a disco with East Berlin kids, and 2 asked me to help them escape. I'm a Black American, I was completely powerless, and they knew it, they just had to try. I'm 55 and I can't forget the urgency.

2:08 "I think the Russians who are abroad should be ashamed right now" does the rapper speak of the Oligarch's scions who attend elite western European private schools? or maybe he's talking about the soldiers who invaded Ukraine? Either way I'm fine with THOSE Russians going back to Russia ;)

I prefer to make it myself the most though. Coffee's dope! I'm kinda disappointed the Russian business people haven't been a little more creative. I understand the businesses are turnkey and have staff that are trained to certain food and drinks but slapping a very similar logo on a starbuck leftover is lame. There are so many vibrant colours from Russian traditional decor they could make it look really nice with a design from home. Maybe in time they'll move more away from that old branding.

Even if Russia won Ukraine, even if "winning" was an option, this all looks sad. I gotta wonder even after the war how long sanctions will continue, not even an occupation of Ukraine but post war people will still not want to do business anywhere near Moscow and Europe is working to not need gas and oil from Russia. Now you're seeing a jewish "black" rapper open his pro-putin starbucks, I'm not going to comment on his bad music but this would be all kinds of gross even if an actual black man did this in the US: Copy a European brand but remake it to be american, use it to promote Trump or whatever, and not expect the entire world to just laugh at all Americans. Random question, where do Russians get their coffee? What's your nearest most convenient Columbia equivalent? And do they care about the current Ukraine situation?
@sejozwak2 жыл бұрын
I guess russians drink coffee at home, it's eastern europe after all, everyone tries to cut corners and save anything, anyway what u said is sad, but what is sadder is how Russia gets sanctioned for same things USA does and never gets even questioned about
@scottwillie63892 жыл бұрын
Russia gets their coffee from same place everyone else does- Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. There isn't a single country in world's top ten coffee producers who are on Russia's "unfriendly nations list". Coffee is pretty much exclusively produced in the Global South so Russia will have no problem sourcing.
