Ive been told by a reel tech. not to use rubbing alcohol on any plastic parts?

Use tape to tape up the line so when u take the spool out of the reel it won't pinch the line.

Hi Dan, how's it going? I have followed this video to a tee, but yet I have the noise when casting. I have narrowed it down to the braking system. I've cleaned and lubed as shown. My question is my brass braking cone is scarred. (Going to try and attach a pic, not sure it will let me) I got one on order from Shimano. Do you think that could be my noise? If I take off all the brakes, and turn the adjusting wheel to 1 it will cast quietly, no noise. I just can't cast it regularly like that. That for the video, and info. And of course it won't let me add a video.

Nope, shimano recommends it be dry since the tolerances are so tight.

I did t think u wanted to oil the brakes and the spool the brakes go on. Thought it should b dry. Oil will slow it down
