Yes, you're right that a lot of pro's and teams publish their race data and training rides (on Strava etc), but you don't get to see their data from them doing the same types of test conditions that these riders are doing, trying to win a pro contract do you. Maybe their not showing them cause they don't want to demoralise the mere mortal recreational cyclist like me? Haha

Last year i participated in the ReStelvio race (race to the top of the stelvio pass in italy from bormio)...it took me 2 hours and Luca won the whole competition in 1hr5 minutes. He's an absolute MACHINE and i've always wondered why he isn't a pro

The lack of power data is pretty disappointing to be honest. And yesterday GCN mentioned in response to a similar comment that there would be data today? Find it confusing that Zwift which is predicated on power measurements isn't actually providing any for its series? Makes it much less interesting for me.

Maybe the teams facilitating this may not be too keen to publish rider data. That said mvdp posts almost all his data to Strava so I’m not sure.

@@tombladon8064 I guess that could be the case - but seems like an odd choice as this is non-in-season data for people that aren't even on their team at this point? And if you are doing a series dedicated to presenting the process of selecting a rider seems like the idea is transparency to a certain degree - and this is kind of key info to omit. Last year there was a lot more power data presented which was genuinely interesting.

This is the exact reason why the Dutch dominate women road cycling. It isn't fair. They have the safest bicycle infrastructure, the longest tradition in organising professional teams, the most sponsors, races and teams, so you get easily picked up. The mixed training groups allow them to easily get to a next level. About every kid learns to cycle at a very young age, so it's not a huge mental step to go racing. Their independent cycling gives them a level of liberty and confidence. Their parents no longer forbid them to race (too dangerous!) because they don't have the authority they used to have. They've had half of the best classic role models in both road and track racing (Keetie Hage, Leontien van Moorsel, Marianne Vos (+CX), the others being Beryl Burton, Yvonne Reynders and Jeannie Longo), and a lot of recent winners in all kinds of disciplines, so it's become an exciting thing when your kid wants to race.

@@gcn 1) Attention for road safety. A regular safety special about both race courses and general roads. Colabs to not only joke about a roundabout but briefly point out in any GCN show what's wrong with it and refer to an indepth video about it by a more specialised YT channel. On general road safety, BicycleDutch and Not Just Bikes come to mind, as they are gateways to other channels. 2) GCN & Zwift school tour (dikke banden / fat tyre races). Collab with a local/regional racing club and organise kids street races for an afternoon of sports and fun. This kind of races are a regular thing in the Netherlands, for instance organised by the (track) six days of Rotterdam (Michael Zijlaard), or by team Rabobank around the Profronde van Heerlen. It would have made more sense to have a TT of varied terrain with sharp corners, plus descents to help find those that will do better in an actual race. An uphill TT is just one steady effort with much less skill involved. Just an idea. But I guess for this purpose, the uphill climb is a safe option.
