most of the timesaves couriway does is blinding into/closer to the stronghold, but that doesn't really apply here so if couriway does rerun it he'll need to reset for god perch or god blaze rates and it'll probably only be like sub 8 or so

I feel the same as you with regard to pause strats. The in-game timer is used so slow loading screens don't make your time longer, making people with very expensive computers have an edge. Definitely nothing against the runners who use pause strats right now though, it'd be dumb not to use it if it benefits you.

@@wollythewolf3995 this is very late, but using fossil structures in the nether at 0,0 chunk can help locate the stronghold. There’s also certain spawns at 0,0 in overworld that do the same. Definitely very technical though so recommend watching a video that explains more if you haven’t already

I dont understand why pausing is allowed, you just get infinite time to look around or just do whatever. Instead of under 10 min of constant pressure and skill, you could just take breaks and calm down and regain your composure.

i know it's been a month but : every player doesn't have the best computer, you see them load the nether or other dimensions instantly, change the render distance with no lag. I remember a few years back i had to wait 10 seconds for the nether to be ready with 16 chunks, sometimes not even realizing that lava was falling on top of me :D I guess that's the main reason, even with a bad computer you can pause and wait without wasting time. If you forbit pausing, those people with bad computer are at a disavantage, while everybody can use it like this player did. If they don't, that's their choice.

I'm going to copy-paste a response from another comment that I think describes this pretty well. Theres a discussion around that, it's still mainly allowed for a couple of reasons. 1: pausing is a part of the game, so people think you shouldnt be punished for using it. 2: people with issues such as anxiety and stress could have problems with doing runs if they weren't allowed to pause and think 3:unavoidable real life things, like having to go to the washroom or helping your younger brother with something. There are arguments for changing the rules and arguments against, it's just a complicated issue

In my humble opinion, I think pausing should be allowed. While i'm not really a part of speedrunning or its community that much, Pausing adds an extra layer of skill "yes knowing when to pause and having the keybinds, etc", and it is allowed because it doesn't affect the game in any way, hence the term "pausing". Its almost like, you aren't affecting the game, you are just giving your eyes superspeed to see individual frames for a long time, for example.

With the amount of pausing and charts/graphs/F3 stuff that's allowed, you might as well just pause and put your seed into a seed checker and find all the structures you need that way. I don't really see the difference.

about the pausing argument: i don't see why people think pausing shouldn't be allowed. It is in default vanilla minecraft, and if they won't let you do that, then they won't let you use what the game has to offer. Pausing should be allowed
