Thanks for the instructions. BTW; if you make a mistake, you can take it apart again quite easily. A sharp tap from below with a rubber mallet is all that is needed (guess how I found this out).

Should the ladder be rusting only after a month of being in the water???

No. You probably have low PH and alkalinity. Also you may have a chipped or scratched paint.
