Quite happy to have found this video. So for your information, my son is also running a Sodikart Sigma RS 2018 chassis. After reviewing some of his GoPro footage, I also find his chassis super twitchy on the steering. I think this nibbles away at his times. I would really like to have a talk with you for some advice. How can we be in-touch?

Sounds like you are getting of 8-9 better. Great idea to go back to neutral, a known starting point and tune from there.

Hi there from the uk great video after watching this episode ive decide after getting lost with set up im going to do the same with caster etc i am tall myself so i also struggle but my kart is only for track days i have to say with the amount of kart set up videos and reading on the Internet on how a car works this was just what i needed cheers

Greetings from Texas, I am so glad that I could help you a little bit! If you have them available, I have since learned to put my kart on the corner scales and see what my front to rear weight distribution is. I actually found that because I am tall - and I get my height with a long torso - I actually needed to move my seat forward 2 cm and that dramatically improved the handling as well. Your seat position may very well be spot-on but why guess when you can know, right? Anyway, for me, moving the seat forward that little bit really improved the kart. Thanks for watching and best of luck!

@Richard Siler moving the seat is guna be an issue as ive just enough room for my knees under the steering wheel as it is im currently on 550mm steering column
@RKSiler Жыл бұрын
@@forcedinduction2918 I totally understand that! I had to really move the pedals all the way forward to make it work and it is comfortable, but still a bit of a squeeze.

@Richard Siler your video on ackerman steering was also very interesting my kart is a compkart kz chassis with a iame x30 engine its never been an issue to drive but ive 2x tracks i use 1 is very fast the other is a smaller bumpy track ive had to raise the front cause its considerably hitting the gound thats about my only issue. We all the information available you do get lost i tryed a hard rear axle because i was told it would help then i read a taller driver wants a soft or medium axle so ive gone back to that

@@forcedinduction2918 You can adjust chain length to move the engine a few inches backwards or forward. Where do you need the weight ?

i mean its really hard to drive that kind of power smoothly with a track in that bad shape
@RKSiler2 жыл бұрын
Ivan, you are so right! The track is usually very "green" and slippery, so power application is super important.

Did you just put the camper/caster back to neutral? No front or rear width, axel hight or torsion bar adjustments? Thanks.
@RKSiler2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew! Thanks for watching! Actually, while the caster/camber did go to neutral, we also changed the ackermann, starting with the steering shaft itself. You will see that in a follow up video that I am working on now. We also put in a stiffer rear axle that is still in the "soft" range according to SodiKart, and candidly, we are finding that depending upon the track conditions, we probably need to go with a medium axle for most days. We have also since tested medium length hubs, that video is also in the production stage. Lastly, we made no changes to the ride height either front or rear, we left the front width stock per the SodiKart instructions, and the rear track is a bit narrower than the maximum allowed by the rules, we are about 1/2" narrower on the rear simply because with all the rain we are having here in Dallas, it seems like every time we go out for some testing, the track has been rained on, so it is green and has very little grip. Hope this makes sense, thanks for watching, and stay tuned for some new episodes with more details on what we are doing set up wise!

Talk about click bait. You gave zero tips and not one “pro” gave tips. There wasn’t one specific detail, spec, or example of how or why you set up a chassis this way or that way. You talked in circles about nothing.

One of the things that has been pointed out by several views is that I did not make it clear that this is the first episode of several around not only chassis set up but also improving as a driver. That's on me. More videos are coming that are a follow on to this initial one that is basically "setting the table". Thanks for watching!
