Printing /Mixing to a 2 Track Master coming out the Midas M32
In this video, I’m going to show you how I use the Midas m32 to mix my Pro tools sessions, routing individual channels from protools, going to a stereo print track. Essentially using channels 1-30 plus the remote control function for the DAW to mix.
I have also applied this using Logic Pro 10.3, and I’m confident it would work with any DAW.

dear wondertone in this video i see only the dca faders controlling the faders in the protools mixer. can we use faders 1-32 to control the output from protools and automate them and send it to a master out please help

I'm a dedicated protools user. My mixing is very similar to yours. Question quality /sound /latency what do you think it's professional or no...also does it only record in 48k or also 441 thanks I had Allen heath qu32 it sounded great I sold it now either gonna get that again or the midas looking for someone who knows.

At work we only have M32's, both full size and R versions. Can you write automation on them? How are the, lets say Fairchild inserts on them vs UAD? Or another plugin for that matter. I have so many questions!!! Thanks for posting!

Hello .. you use Pro Tools 12, right! I have pro tools 10. In setup / io / imput. I do not have the "subgroup" option. Is it because you do not have 12?

subroup is just an aux channel relabled. You do have it.

good morning. very nice video, thanks. I do have a question and you could be the right person maybe to have an answer for me. I work with pro tools at the moment 12.5 and my mac os x 10.8.5. I have the m32r version from midas and tried to get it run with my session yesterday. Saddly it wasn't functioning as i would like to. Faders not responding and always message according HUI problems/issues. Could you guid me a bit trough the prosses of setting up my midas with pro tools, so i can mix and record my band as well? good evening. thanks for your reply. i got my pro tools work/run with my midas, thanks god. :) Just sad that I can't use all faders when i remote my daw. in your demonstration video you showing a routing option for a 2 track print back in pro tools right? do you mix with the console and would recommend this work around for a serious mixing project where i first record the band with this console and after make a final mix with it? Looks like you're taking 2 outputs and connecting them to 2 mic pres. Does that work? One of the things that bugs me about this desk is the lack of line level inputs.

The way i have it configured here, i can use the pre's on the 2 track mix, but if you wanted line level signal on the 2 track return you can use your aux channel. I will be doing another video with that configuration. make sure to subscribe to be notified.

after watching this a bunch of times, I have to ask what looks to me to be the obvious question. How did you program the controls and get everything to talk to the Midas M32 and there must be a way that the print track which seems to be in stereo gets mixed down. I do get the theory in where the print track gets returned to a regular input track and then able to be sent externally to external goodness. However, how did everything get mixed down to a print track (don't just say sub group) how does this happen? How do you get all of those tracks and then the print track is obviously only a stereo track? I see that there is a mix down process somewhere.

When you hit the "DAW Remote" it is pre-programmed to work with Pro Tools. You can go in an configure some options. As far as the rest of your question, I don't understand. This video shows how to get a Stereo Printrack from your Pro Tools session. All your tracks have to go to a subgroup to get mixed down to a stereo track, virtual or not. I was thinking of doing a follow up video or maybe a live conference with a select few followers from facebook if people are interested.

@@Wondertone Im totally interested! I guess what I meant was when the tracks go to the mix group and then to the print track, there are only 2 tracks. It just appeared to me that maybe there was a summing process somewhere along the line to converge everything into two tracks

​@@visionop8 Correct, all the tracks are routed to bus 9/10 and back to my input channels 19/20 (my print track). Then the playback for the print track is 31/32 on the Midas Console.

It does, a 2 track version via the USB port, also there are add-on options like the Cymatic Audio uTrack X32 which would record 32 tracks directly onto a hard drive
